What’s the difference between a licensed store and a corporate store?
Ristrettooo 3 points 1y ago
Corporate stores are operated directly by Starbucks. Employees are Starbucks partners, they have partner numbers, and get Starbucks benefits. If you’re a customer, then a corporate store will be able to offer you all the benefits of the rewards program. They’re generally stand-alone stores not located inside other businesses.

Licensed stores are operated by a different company. They’re typically inside grocery stores, hotels, airports, theme parks, and sometimes malls. People who work there are employees of the larger business, not Starbucks. They don’t get Starbucks benefits. Licensed stores use different technology so they cant fully participate in the rewards program, although the exact details vary.

I work in a licensed store. We only have barcode readers. It's annoying trying to explain the difference between a barcode and a qr code... we also only have 1 employee usually working at a time and only 1 espresso machine, 1 blender, 1 brew maker, 1 oven. It gets hectic especially when someone orders 10 frapps. Yes I actually had to make 10 frapps, alone with a single blender. I was crying the entire time because I had a line of 6 plus people. They were all yelling at me to go faster and to be a better barista.

As soon as I got certified, I was put alone for closing shifts. From 3 pm to 8 pm I was alone. I also had 3p minutes to get the entire kiosk cleaned. Usually didn't get out until 8:50-9 pm. I had a lot of quarter punches when I was closing. Finally got morning shifts where I'm not alone and if I do get put alone ots only for 10-30 minutes.
