It’s going to vary in cost significantly by state/region. I can tell you that for me (for a plan covering 2 people), it was absolutely not worth it and something like $800-900 per check (so probably $400ish for a single person).

I can’t really imagine any scenarios where the platinum plan is worth it. The premiums are so high that it ends up being the same as having a super high deductible that you max. Except with a high deductible plan, there’s a chance you may not *need* care, and thus you end up saving a lot of money. If you do end up needing a lot of care, then it just evens out to what a platinum plan may have cost you throughout the year anyway.

Even doing the math on the silver or gold plans was not worth it for us. We went with bronze and are investing the savings from lower premiums in the HSA instead.
