Very cool, very normal (self.starbucksbaristas)

Today a woman cussed us out because she “didn’t want a dragon drink” she wanted a “mango dragonfruit refresher with coconut milk instead of water.”
scmfckwaido 159 points 1y ago
A guy did this to me with a pink drink vs a strawberry açaí with coconut milk because apparently the pink drink doesn’t have caffeine and the strawberry açaí w coconut milk does

We have a lady like this at my store. I generally just ring her for a mango dragonflies refresher, no water sib coconut milk. There's no getting thru to her.
No-Dimension-1035 [OP] 61 points 1y ago
yeah we tried explaining that they were the same drink, it enraged her, apparently.
wildaloofrebel55 32 points 1y ago
I understand you probably weren’t laughing, but I can’t stop laughing at this. I’m dead.
No-Dimension-1035 [OP] 24 points 1y ago
If Im being honest, when people act out like that, it can be morbidly funny. I don’t laugh, but it’s just such an overreaction, it tickles me a little bit
El_Trundo17 14 points 1y ago
Sameeeeee
Crowchick1731 14 points 1y ago
Sometimes I find it's just easier to do it their way

Mango dragonflies refresher 💀

V happy to have left that environment. All I get are bookworms and one of our regulars shows me the same 3 memes she likes. She’s a little older and I’ll gladly laugh at those 3 memes bc it makes me happy that she wants to put smiles on our faces.

They really have no idea what their drinks are made of

Like fuck
mcr0414 8 points 1y ago
When I started years and years ago I didn’t know the difference between a latte and a brewed coffee. I always take the time to explain if they need it :)
Saradigm 5 points 1y ago
Lol yeah that’s our job
mcr0414 0 points 1y ago
Ya that’s why I’m saying it’s okay if they don’t know what’s in the drinks. :)
Tortemo 2 points 1y ago
It's ok, unless they act haughty and holier-than-thou because they think they know what's in their drinks and yell at baristas just trying to do their jobs while having to deal with people like that every day

I’m guessing she just didn’t want to pay for the coconut milk? We had a dick that would get a trenta tea with light lemonade and lose his fucking mind if someone rang it in as a tea lemonade because it’s like 50 cents more. He also would take a sip and ask for more lemonade half the time.

Other possibility is she’s just an idiot who refuses to admit she’s wrong and actually learn something.

Sorry that happened to you. Customers do not see us as people.
shikiP 7 points 1y ago
Isn't it more expensive to ring her up a refresher and add coconut milk? its more expensive here but im LS.
Very-_-Disappointing 2 points 1y ago
I’m not positive of the price difference at my store at the moment, but if you add the coconut milk on the right side buttons (splash), in a corporate store, there is no charge. If you do the left side, it’s 70¢ for most US locations. If she was being annoying for the price then she was counting on the barista hitting the right side button. It’s not an unreasonable bet considering a lot of people instinctively hit the right side when no milk is highlighted already.

It is more expensive. Since the milk is already added on with dragon drink, ringing it up as mango dragonfruit with milk is 70 cents more thus making it more expensive. Not much price difference but it's still more.
Karlkrows 17 points 1y ago
It became: “would you like that with water, lemonade, or coconut milk?” When asked for a dragonfruit refresher.

Also for everyone here: try it with green tea sometime
FearlessSentence9667 5 points 1y ago
my favorite is actually with black tea if u haven’t tried that one
KittyGray 1 points 1y ago
This was my fave with BHR and I miss it so much :(
anissaf2000 2 points 1y ago
Hold out hope, my store got some today :)

I've had people order a mango dragonfruit with apple juice. It's just weird and looks weird
mexicanitch 8 points 1y ago
I'm a green bean and wondering if I can order a mango dragon fruit refresher with coconut milk and whipped cream. Is that wrong?
No-Dimension-1035 [OP] 8 points 1y ago
That’s totally fine! A dragon drink is literally the mango dragonfruit base + coconut milk (and the fruit inclusions) instead of water or lemonade. This customer’s problem was that she got very upset when we referred to her drink as a dragon drink instead of a mango dragonfruit refresher with coconut milk and threw a fit. It’s not the misunderstanding/the “mistake” that’s the problem- it’s the response.

Edit: Technically, you could order a dragon drink with whip cream instead as well.

Thank you!!

Sometimes I just say okay and explain at the window . Saves a argument. Keeps the line going and it shows that I truly care and understand what they want and teach them our language. I work with kids.
My patience is a little ridiculous of how much I try and sympathize sometimes with our customers
treebloom 1 points 1y ago
I can tell you're a good employee from that
BaristaWoosa 4 points 1y ago
This happens weekly at my store. So exhausting
adventurelyfe 2 points 1y ago
😭
grumpyskull 1 points 1y ago
It’s cheaper I think if you order it as a refresher with the milk

We had a guy come in today asking for an iced mocha and when my coworker asked if they wanted it as a latte or a mocha they said a latte but they wanted it blended.
wanderer1522 17 points 1y ago
I don't understand what your coworker meant by asking if they wanted it as a latte or a mocha when the customer said "iced mocha". Maybe I'm missing something?
paolathepanda 6 points 1y ago
Yeah I agree tbh it does sound confusing asking if it's a latte or a mocha
Fatkidsid09 1 points 1y ago
Frappe lol sorry that was my bad
