iced honey citrus mint isn't real (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by hollowsockets
It's so annoying when people order this then get mad when you try to redirect them to something else. It takes so long to try to make it iced and it's not that good imo. Plus there's no standard so of course they complain that it's different from"the other Starbucks". I just needed to rant.

Iced green tea with peppermint syrup and lemonade is pretty good, not gonna lie. LOL Not the same but the closest thing that I can think of and it's delicious. I don't call it iced HCMT but I tell the customer thats the closest we can do. Lol
hollowsockets [OP] 15 points 1y ago
i'll try to offer this as an option. it just sucks to have to remake a drink that doesn't exist because it ends up not tasting right.
heartashley 10 points 1y ago
I do this but with honey blend syrup instead of peppermint and it scratches the same itch for me :) such a pain of a drink but dang it's so warming to get a hot one on a cold day...

had an influx of customers the other day ordering a honey citrus mint, not telling my coworker at reg they want it iced, then giving me dirty looks and looking straight up disgusted while they push the cup back to me and say "um.....this was Supposed to be Iced........" and when i explained to them we dont make it iced but i could try it just takes a long time and are they willing to wait they were like "oh.........no :/" and left

i guess they assumed its an iced drink for some reason but like. that is Not my fault lol

As a customer I really like this. But I order it as tall/grande honey citrus mint and venti or trena cup of ice. Let it cool and steep for a bit, slowly pour tea over ice. Simpler and better for all involved.
Also, I can't speak on how good it is, but my store started making "iced London fog" with the black iced tea. Apparently it's the same thing as.. one of the hot black teas I don't remember.
hollowsockets [OP] 26 points 1y ago
hm, london fog is made with earl grey which is definitely not what we use as iced black tea. seems like that store is just taking a short cut because, although I've never made one, I'm 98% sure there's a recipe card for iced london fog and it entails steeping earl grey for like 3-5 minutes.
Animuthrowawayplz 5 points 1y ago
You're right, we aren't supposed to use the iced black tea with it. The iced English Breakfast latte we can because our iced black tea is that, but the Earl Grey is completely different. Although the iced black tea USED to be a combo of both a long time ago, according to my shift. The iced green tea is the jade citrus mint from what my shift told me, so that could be wrong.

Im pretty sure our iced green tea is emperor’s cloud; im allergic to mint and I drink it just fine
NothingToSeeFolks 4 points 1y ago
It’s Jade, not emperor’s cloud. Maybe you’re not allergic to all mint? It has spearmint.
JeanLucPicardsAss 2 points 1y ago
Im slightly allergic and it bothers me. Hi! Never found anyone else with that allergy. How does the smell of the peppermint syrup sit with you?
gltgphone 1 points 1y ago
Oh yeah. The proper way is to steep it, we do for 5 min, using the same timer as the big iced teas. The iced tea is usually a suggestion we offer. That does kill drive times though. Especially peak, short staffed, already long line etc

Peach Green tea lemonade w pumps of honey
Millerboycls09 2 points 1y ago
And one pump of peppermint might put the jade citrus flavor back in
fro-froyo 8 points 1y ago
Yall are doing this the hard way. Make an an iced green tea peach lemonade with half honey blend and half peppermint syrup. My customers love it everytime.
imeanitpeanut 5 points 1y ago
I don’t even put in the peppermint, since the iced green tea is jade citrus mint
fro-froyo 2 points 1y ago
We don't cold steep the tea or pour the steeped tea over ice. Use your normal green tea build for a peach green tea lemonade then put half honey blend and half peppermint pump ratio to the size of the ordered drink.
imeanitpeanut 2 points 1y ago
Sorry, what I meant to say is the tea we use for our regular green iced tea is jade citrus mint.
FfierceLaw 4 points 1y ago
Well it’s got all the flavors! I’m just going to say this IS the iced MB! Now we need honey in stock, we have neither honey blend nor the packets
drinkliquidclocks 0 points 1y ago
Do some stores have peppermint all year...?
fro-froyo 2 points 1y ago
Yes it's available on the ordering site all year. We get folks wanting peppermint mocha and med balls made the old way all the time so we keep it in stock.
drinkliquidclocks 1 points 1y ago
I work at a licensed store so we can only order it during Xmas season. I didn't realize other stores had it all the time, thanks for the answer! We stock up though so we usually have it for like 3/4ths of the year anyways
irlboyf 5 points 1y ago
THANK YOU we literally can’t ring it up, not to mention it tastes like crap and ruins the point of a “medicine ball” when it’s cold smh 🤦‍♀️
hollowsockets [OP] 6 points 1y ago
I know right?? I try to offer peach green tea lemonade with honey blend instead but they get defensive! Then get mad that the tea has to steep for their made up drink! People are so annoying 😑
smoolbeean 3 points 1y ago
can i get a caramel frappuccino but hot...
ok so you want a hot caramel latte...
no not really. i just wanted a caramel frappuccino but hot..
hollowsockets [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Literally 😑
paradox0010 3 points 1y ago
This is my favorite thing to make for myself so imma stay out of it lol. But I’m pretty sure if a customer does want it you can ring it up under a iced custom tea latte with peach, jade citrus and honey just like standard. Yeah it’ll take 5 mins and The price may fluctuate but hey they asked for it.

Edit: also sbux really needs to fix how standards work for iced brewed teas. It’s stupid and I agree that it dies lead to confusion
Mikaylapancakes 2 points 1y ago
Yeah the closest thing I can think of is an iced green tea lemonade with honey and peppermint. People don’t understand the menu so they think what they say is gospel🤣
thechamelioncircuit 2 points 1y ago
I just tell people that we don’t make it iced and if they insist I tell them it’ll be 5-10 munutes
jaxattackk 1 points 1y ago
I absolutely agree. There is a standard to making hot teas into iced one tho! For example on the iPad you should have a recipe for an iced London fog. (Which is one of my fav drinks, but would never ask another barista to make cuz it’s such a pain in the ass) anyways you basically grab two tea bags for a grande or venti, take the pour over pitcher and use the small lines on the other side of it to pour the water too. Steep for 5 minutes in the tall/short cup. After that you’ll grab a iced tea shaker and shake it with milk, ice and sweeter. The hot water should end come up to the base line in the shaker.
