Customer telling me the Starbucks recipe is wrong? If you want something, why not just ask for it?(self.starbucksbaristas)

This is just a bit of a tall rant but a customer came in the other day asking for a mocha Frappuccino. I was doing DTO + DTR and she obviously didn’t seem very enthused. When I handed her the drink, she then explained it was made wrong because there was no mocha drizzle? I live by the motto “if it gets the chips, it gets the drizz” at Starbucks and I’ve worked here long enough to know the recipes fairly well. This woman, though, spends 3-5 minutes at window telling me that we always make it wrong and that the recipe is this and that. Of course, I told her we have new baristas who mistakenly add mocha drizzle but she just huffed and left.
Maybe just let us know at the speaker, then and not tell me how to do my job? I love the customers sometimes but other times I don’t understand them.

I'll pull out my phone (or a store iPad if one's handy) and open the app while we're talking. In this case it shows our mocha frappuccino with plain whip, no drips. Should have shut her shit down. Of course she can ask for it and get it and she should. Does she want some mocha drizzle or does she want to be right? Sounds like she got neither.
Similarly, I have opened the app and it showed that the customer was right, so I try to stay humble

Yeah, it’s hard to remember every detail of the recipes but that’s why I look at the recipe cards when it’s slow. If I’m confident that’s the recipe, I will let them know. If I’m not, I ask a shift lead or look it up myself. Nothing wrong with a customer being right, but there’s no need for aggression

Ngl I like showing a customer like that a picture

the mocha frappuccino doesn’t contain any mocha drizzle on top . also , it doesn’t come with frappuccino chips . it’s frap roast , milk , mocha , base , ice and blend .

Yeah, she just wanted a regular mocha Frappuccino with mocha drizzle but assumed it always came with mocha drizzle and that’s what was wrong with it. Instead of simply asking, “hey, sorry, I should have asked for mocha drizzle. Can you add that?” She called us incompetent and condescendingly told us how it “should” be made. That’s what was frustrating lol

she’s dumb as hell . i’m pretty sure if you look up the picture on the app it doesn’t show any drizzle . if i was in your place i would give her attitude as well . if she knows the recipe “so much better” and knows how to do our jobs , then she should work for starbucks

As tempting as it is to give attitude to rude customers, I will never stoop to their level. I just tell them “Oh, I’m sorry, how can I fix that for you?” and be so polite they look like their going to vomit haha. Doesn’t always work but it doesn’t escalate anything

that’s what i would personally do , because it does get tiring having to deal with the same shit over and over again . i would recommend you not serve her at window and get a shift .

Had a customer come in one day and ask for a Carmel macchiato. I of course added the vanilla at the bottom and followed the recipe exactly. When I handed her the drink she asked me how many pumps of vanilla I put in. I of course tell her how many then she proceeded to try and tell me that there’s no vanilla in the Carmel macchiatos here, the drink is DISGUSTING and never wants me to make her drink! My leader proceeds to tell her that there is vanilla in it and that she’ll make her drink and she’s like ah okay! Sure! And made it exactly as I did and was like yea this is better!! …. My leader explained how shes picky on who makes her drinks and if it’s not the right person she’ll make excuses and throws a fit!

she should also know wtf she’s ordering instead of wasting her time complaining
