I recently got the new Apple Watch and i know we’re not allowed to wear them on our wrists during work but i was told we can wear them around our apron. I am obsessed with closing my rings, for all the baristas that do this i was just wondering if at least most of your movement and everything still gets tracked even though its not around your wrist?
Idk if this makes any sense lol but any help would be appreciated!

I'm pretty sure if you put it in your pocket, it will count your movements much the same.

Thats so true i honestly didnt even thing about putting it in my pocket as an option lol thanks so much!
swollemolle9 points1y ago
I did the same with my smart watch and I always closed my rings. It's a great alternative to putting it on your apron

You could try wearing it around your ankle like people that are on house arrest wear ankle bracelets. I just feel like it’s fitting since working at Starbucks basically makes you feel like a prisoner. I’m sorry I had to say it 😂
Maybe try having it in your pocket or loop it through one of the belt loops on your pants if you have them and it can hang from there. It sucks that you’re not allowed to wear it. I also like closing my rings. Haha

LOL! I love the ankle bracelet metaphor it is vert fitting i feel like the fridge opens on my foot a lot so that might be dangerous but i love the belt loop thing! Thanks so much I’ll definitely try that!
caligirlthrowaway1043 points1y ago
No problem!

I used to do this with my apple watch and it worked great (I used an arm band for running, so it would fit around the ankle comfortably). Made a great conversation starter when I was getting ready in the back haha.

Everyone in the back strapping their ankle bracelets on
Sooo what are you in for? 😂

My old manager used to wear it on her apron. I stopped wearing mine when I was told I wasn’t allowed to wear it anymore.
ResponsibleMess9775 [OP]7 points1y ago
Cool! Do you know if she was still able to close her rings with it there?? Also that’s annoying that she could wear it and you can’t
tyedyefrog2 points1y ago
At my store we wear them on our aprons! It does close your rings!
Gameb0i62 points1y ago
I could wear it in just chose not to. Idk if she was able to close her rings though.

If you throw it in your apron just be careful. Mine got gross when I was on bar. I managed to somehow get mocha in my apron pocket and my watch was coated.
ResponsibleMess9775 [OP]6 points1y ago
Okay good to know thanks so much!

i am also obsessed with closing my rings omg. dont tell anyone 😳 but i still wear mine on my wrist bc it doesn’t count anything in my pocket and i can’t deal with not having it be accurate. but i alwaysssss wear long sleeves so it’s completely covered. which works for me bc im always freezing. i even put a little hairband over the bottom of my sleeve so it stays covered. no one has ever noticed or said anything, and i have a 272 day streak for my rings now 😸
ResponsibleMess9775 [OP]3 points1y ago
LOL!! ugh i wish! My manager was saying other stores have had issued with borrowed partners telling on them so she doesnt want that to happen to us which sucks maybe one day she’ll cave, she has one too so maybe she’ll wanna wear hers eventually

i put mine in my pocket but it usually doesn’t pick up exercise minutes at all. just stand + move (not always tho.) I too am obsessed with closing my rings😅
ResponsibleMess9775 [OP]4 points1y ago
Oh perfect!! Thanks so much! I usually make some shit up for exercise minutes anyway lol
dontgiveah00t8 points1y ago
I’ve seen an arm band strap that would fit around my upper arm/ close to my elbow on Amazon 😂 but I haven’t gotten it yet. I figured that was like compliant enough for food safety but still makes it kinda catch my activity
Dsgrcfl6 points1y ago
I used to put mine in my pocket but it didn’t count anything so I got an ankle band from Amazon and it works perfectly
ALarue993 points1y ago
I put it on my belt loop
wizardsticker3 points1y ago
I usually put mine in my pocket and it picks up most of my movement I think. As a tip tho I usually put it on water mode because on several occasions I’ve had to reset it because of too many incorrect passcode attempts in my pocket!

inurseya Carabiner Watch Fob... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L184H4S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I bought this for easy on and off for apron or belt loop. No longer with the siren and I wasn’t keeping an eye too much on my rings so not sure if I’m much help with the actual question 🤷🏼♀️
ResponsibleMess9775 [OP]2 points1y ago
Thanks so much!

Under workouts, scroll until it says other and use that while at work to help track it.
FragrantWin93 points1y ago
I have always wondered but never tried- can you wear it on your upper arm if you got an arm band?
ResponsibleMess9775 [OP]2 points1y ago
I’m not sure! I know they have one for phones but im not sure about Apple Watches! Someone here mentioned they got an ankle one maybe that can be used on the upper arm as well!
is_it_soy2 points1y ago
People have suggested putting it in your pocket. I want to add that you should also remove the straps if you’re gonna do that so it doesn’t sit awkwardly in your pocket!
ResponsibleMess9775 [OP]1 points1y ago
Lol! Yes i definitely thought of that and will probably do that! Thanks so much!
Psychedelic_Doughnut2 points1y ago
If you want to get it done officially, you will more than likely have to get your district managers approval. That’s what my district manager told me. There is an official process for this.
sbuxkatie1 points1y ago
some partners wear it on their arm! it tracks pretty well from what i heard.
sero50741 points1y ago
