Showing support for Buffalo (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by DHolmes85
I now it's trivial but I'd like to find a way that I (and other partners) can show our support for the Buffalo workers efforts without getting immediately squashed by management.
Maybe adding a Buffalo to your name tag? Or something that could also spark conversations with customer?
Maybe it's a dumb idea but I think Buffalo should know they aren't alone, particularly when corporate is doubling down on trying to snuff them out.

Showing solidarity by joining the fight is the answer. Reach out to your local Workers United regional joint board to talk to unionized workers near you. They will be more than happy to provide resources for the first steps to take to organize your store if you and your coworkers decide that unionizing is the right call.

Also, measure twice and cut once: read up on unionizing if you can. I highly suggest No Shortcuts by Jane McAlevy as a good place to start. Her book covers very successful unionizing drives specifically in service sectors that are in Right to Work states and she details why they were effective.

Heh, if you want to be coy, you could put the Workers United logo on your nametag.

Otherwise, just talk about unions in your store. Educate your partners. Talk to them about Buffalo and the situation. Help spread the word. Management can't actually stop you from *talking* about what a union is... but I would still tread carefully. Starbucks is, and has always been, infamously anti-union (no matter what bullshit Rossann spews online).
