This will be my first holiday season at sbux. Are there any added bonuses being an employee during this time? I’ve heard tips are better but I’m curious if the company does anything for their employees. Also how often do partners get shirts? So far I’ve gotten 2, pride and 50th.

The first year I work for Starbucks they gave everyone a 500$ bonus for Xmas. Sadly never again. This was in 03.
LadyBearJenna25 points1y ago
Yeah I started in 04 and everyone was telling me about the holiday bonus they got the previous year. Then we got nothing.

prettylilfears19 points1y ago
WHAT IS RED CUP DAY
Cjuytsootgg33 points1y ago
Everyone who buys a holiday drink gets a free holiday hot cup. It’s insanely busy
prettylilfears11 points1y ago
brb gonna go cry
kqs136 points1y ago
Oh, you'll see.
CheyenneJudith4 points1y ago
Hahhahaha 🥲 <—- me on red cup day.
allmailtothethief10 points1y ago
I'm volunteering to decorate the store so I don't have to work on red cup day 😅
persona-21 points1y ago
Oh that’s an option? I have exactly 8 hours between my decorating and my morning red cup shift.
PluralPaul5 points1y ago
ah yes, the one day that definitely needed to happen again at the height of the pandemic and DEFINITELY wasn't the nail in the coffin for a significant number of partners quitting
JeanLucPicardsAss67 points1y ago
you might get a red apron. maybe. other than that, no
Jew_349 points1y ago
Made from the blood of the partners in your store as we all sacrifice our bodies for the good of the siren.
jamosarous16 points1y ago
May the siren show mercy to us this winter season 🙏🏾

My SV last year gave us each a little chocolate and candy which was sweet of her
designated-grapes43 points1y ago
Time and a half if you work certain days (mandated by law). I think 40% off for a few weeks at a time once or twice. Red aprons for the holiday launch/season...
noeyoureatowel6 points1y ago
There’s no federal laws (in the US) that mandate holiday pay, actually! So it’s just corporate policy.
New_Consequence_51847 points1y ago
This is untrue. Federal holidays require overtime pay for any employee that works them. It's corporate policy to keep the stores open, but the overtime pay is a federal mandate.
noeyoureatowel9 points1y ago
Federal law mandates overtime pay for federal employees, not private sector. DOL says the following, found here: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/overtime
“The Act does not require overtime pay for work on Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, or regular days of rest, unless overtime is worked on such days.”
State laws obviously vary, but the CA department of industry relations says the same, found here: https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/faq_holidays.htm
“Hours worked on holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays are treated like hours worked on any other day of the week. California law does not require that an employer provide its employees with paid holidays, that it close its business on any holiday, or that employees be given the day off for any particular holiday.”
bibella3203 points1y ago
I used to work at McDonalds and i worked on thanksgiving, and i definitely did not get overtime pay!
here_forthefun20 points1y ago
No added bonus. Just time and a half on the holidays you work

I've not seen this mentioned yet, but if you have been working for at least some months (I think 6 months) you get a few shares of Starbucks stock granted to you. There are rules and restrictions with these grants and they are in no way a bonus in the traditional sense, where you just get an extra flat rate in your paycheck.
Go to the partner hub and search for RSU (Restricted Stock Unit) or bean stock under the benefits tab. There are some videos that explain it decently well.
In essence though: work for Starbucks long enough and in November/December you are granted a few shares of Starbucks stock. You must create an account with Fidelity (this is the same account you'll use to set up your 401k, which you should do as soon as you're eligible, esp the younger you are), and accept the granted. Then you must stay with the company for a year. By next Nov/Dec, you will be granted another set of stock. Around the same time, half of your first grant will be "vested" or unlocked. Once it's vested, it gets place in another account and it is yours. One year later, you'll receive another grant, the second half of that first grant (but also the first half of your second grant).
It can get confusing, but it is very systematic. If you leave the company, you lose anything that isn't already vested.

Bonus only when stock split
anon-latte-slinger3 points1y ago
We should be demanding quarterly profit sharing determined by location. Also a bunch of other things, but its outrageous that we don't see any bonuses like that.
FfierceLaw3 points1y ago
You got the Pride one for free? We had to buy ours!
JessicaAlice421 [OP]3 points1y ago
Some partners got the pride shirt. I think it was if they participated in a parade or some people other kind of city event
4filth3 points1y ago
came here to comment the same thing! lol
FfierceLaw4 points1y ago
I went on there and did not want to pay that shipping fee so I went on our group chat to see who wanted to go in on an order and I got 20 partners! We all saved by getting it together
[deleted]3 points1y ago
You get 40% off retail at some point. It might be different for each store so your SM should tell you at the holiday meeting (assuming you have one)!
Iron_to_the_wall2 points1y ago
I think you get time and a half. At my store we do tips by week, unless it’s a holiday, in which the tips only go to the people working that day. Besides that, I don’t know.
