Both my managers at Starbucks have had similar rules - this is normal for retail and foodservice jobs in general

That is normal, I work in a Starbucks at a grocery store and I see for the cashiers a sign up sheet for if they want to work for time and half and during the beginning of the year for our vacations there is certain weeks that cannot be a vacation week (for example the week of Christmas besides a select few people can) so yeah it’s totally normal

I hope it’s optional at my store. They haven’t mentioned this yet. I’ve never worked on Christmas Day and really hope my store is closed. I don’t care if I work Thanksgiving or not.

Our store has a sign up sheet, you have to sign up for the two holidays you want off (a primary and a secondary) and basically our SM is only promising one and you’re subject to potentially working all the rest. But i had all my time off requests in by april so i have most the holidays anyways bc i travel to family

This is very normal, unfortunately those days are huge $$$ days. All the stores in my district have the mandatory 3 day sign up too.

last year we had a sign up sheet for what holidays we wanted off, and if the majority wanted a certain holiday off the store would be closed. i worked thanksgiving and xmas eve last year and it was chill af. we were closed christmas day, new year’s eve and day were both hectic. we have a new DM now though so idk how it’ll be this year :( i’ll work any holiday as long as i don’t work christmas. that’s the ONLY holiday i ever have my entire family around :/

My SM said that Christmas is voluntary. If enough partners volunteer we will open. But that was before our new outside hire DM
