The one week training is a lie. Expect to take about 3 months to feel comfortable.
You’ll make mistakes. Everyone does. Even veteran baristas. One of the biggest things is just learning not to freeze up and recover faster.
Pay attention to the resources (register, recipe cards, computer, ipad). Use them when you have time to look something up. After 5 years at Starbucks I have no faith your average barista or even shift gives out correct info all the time. Training is so rushed that things slip through the cracks and then the whole store is doing something wrong.
Buy some good shoes or some good insoles. Don’t wear anything light-colored to work.

your coworkers will get irritated with you but no one is holding a grudge and no one expects you to learn faster. it’s a high stress environment that rubs off on everyone at times

Be patient with yourself. This job takes a while to get a hold of. Even partners who have been with the company for years learn a little something new everyday. You got this!

I'm pretty green too. Your coworkers would rather you interrupt them to ask a question than make something wrong and set everyone back. You're going to feel like your in the way a lot but no one thinks that way. Ask questions! Better to be slow and do it right than be fast and make stuff wrong! Hit me up if you have questions!

If you drop a gallon of milk, don't freak out.. it happens.. don't feel bad -someone who cried when they dropped a gallon of milk a month into the job

Just be chill. In the end starbucks is just another job that you shouldn't stress over. Your fellow baristas should be supportive of you. Learning everything will be easier than you think. And if a customer is mean to me I personally think to myself "will this effect my employment or paycheck?" if not I just move on. Also try your best to have fun and take advantage of any benefits that you can‼️😩

ask questions when you need. please don’t be afraid to ask baristas questions. when i was training i felt so scared to ask the baristas questions bc they’d always talk down towards the trainees. as a seasoned partner now please for the love of god id rather help u ring up an order for a minute than remake a drink 5 times. some people will be like the baristas i had to go through to become the employee i am today but just know it’s their attitude and not yours that’s the problem

Most anything in our job can be fixed or forgiven. Except getting people sick - pay attention to food safety (making sani correctly, checking discard dates on ingredients, etc).
Learn to enjoy the torture of an enormous family all ordering different fraps during peak. 😅
