I commend people for doing this type of thing. Work the system. Also, customers paying more for "the proper" drink does not increase how much I get paid as a barista. That goes straight up to the top. Until I start getting paid AN ACTUAL living wage from starbucks, until we, the ones running the stores and making the drinks, see a direct impact to our paychecks of customers paying these higher prices, I will HELP customers find the cheapest options for the product they are buying.

No but it makes our jobs harder trying to figure out what they want and how, and slows down the ordering process.

I work for Starbucks and I literally order like this just to get my drink a little cheaper. That’s how I found out I can just order a drink a certain way and it’s cheaper even though it’s functionally the same thing.
Edit: I will include the price here.
Ordering a venti caramel macchiato with extra caramel drizzle in my area will cost me $5.45 before tax and partner discount.
Ordering an iced triple shot espresso in a venti cup with 5 pumps of vanilla, extra splash of 2%, shots affogato, and extra caramel drizzle on top costs $4.05 before tax and partner discount.
It’s the same drink. Why would you make me pay more for the same thing? No, I won’t actively tell someone to order like this, but I will do it because I can save 1.40 on my drink ordering this way. That’s a 25% discount, just from the way you order your drink.

Because you don’t fill the 2% all the way unless it’s a latte. If it was the same drink sure, but you do not fill an espresso (especially a venti) to the top.

Add extra ice if you’re so worried about your drink being filled to the top. It doesn’t bother me. Also, you can ask to pay $0.50 to have them fill it to the top instead, but your returns are diminished.

They are two different drinks. I'm surprised no one at your store has told this to you. If you get more than 4 ounces of milk, regardless of size, you pay extra for the milk. A [caramel] macchiato isn't an "extra splash of 2%" since it's the milk is majority of the actual beverage! If you order the triple shot over ice with extra splash then you're not looking to get an actual caramel macchiato. Big difference.

I’m not going to stress over a little bit of milk my guy, it tastes the same.

It's not "a little bit of milk," but keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better, bruh.
