Target specific question (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by BusyLeek2351
I’ve worked at target as a barista for a little under a year and I have gauges that meet Starbucks standards but they’re starting to bother me about them and say it’s not acceptable for target, does anyone in this sub have knowledge/resources or anything that can prove or disprove that?

I’m asking because the current team lead I have cannot open, make tea/ice coffee, and barely write drink IDs and I don’t trust her with this either. Appreciate your time !

Note: this is a copy paste I asked someone in this subreddit but figured a bigger audience would help since my job is at risk.

sometimes i don't take out my normal earrings and no one tells me anything about it at my target. i guess gauges are different? but the thing is you're employed by target not starbucks so you follow target rules. maybe you could talk to your tl about the starbucks dress code?

What do they expect you to do? Unpierce your ears? What’s target’s dress code?

You don't work for Starbucks, you work for Target, so if Target says that's not ok with their dress code then it doesn't matter what Starbucks dress code allows. My grocery store Starbucks for example only allowed black shirts with collars or gray store brand polos, far stricter than Starbucks dress code.

And that’s understandable, however I’ve been here for 8 months, been approved by numerous TL/ETLS, and have been on shift for 3 ecolabs visits and this week alone it’s been a major problem/ the final straw. I was explicitly told “no no they’re fine”

According to my TL and our health inspector, any jewelry visible outside of a face mask is against code except for a plain wedding band. One of my coworkers has to remove her gauges and another has a fresh cartilage piercing she has to cover with a blue food-safe bandaid before every shift.
