why does everyone hate cold foam so much(self.starbucksbaristas)

You just put it in the blender before making the drink... it's ready for you by the time it's needed. like. is everyone here just desperate for things to complain about

they aren’t that bad when the store is slow….. but mid peak when cold bar is packed up with tons of refreshers and fraps and then multiple 4 drink orders come in and all have *different flavor* cold foams on them and the hot bar people have to yell over to cold bar to make triple batches all 4 different cold foams with only 2 foam pitchers and 2 blenders that are already being used for fraps, it becomes an extreme bottleneck and is very frustrating.

I absolutely see where you are coming from. I think I just fundamentally don't understand why it's stressful. Even when it's busy and you're understaffed. Like, yes there's a ton of things that theoretically make it harder. But ultimately the main cause of stress is worrying that you won't get drinks out quick enough, and I really couldn't care less if someone has to wait 5 minutes for their drink. That's on them for coming when it's busy.

Well, sure, but it’s not that I honestly care about a customer waiting. It’s that I care about the shit consequences of the customer waiting—the customer being rude/mean, my SSV being rude/mean, my partners being rude/mean etc. because any of the three groups blames me for the wait… all that. It’s stressful because I’m anticipating that someone is going to act like I have control over how long the foam takes to blend, because they *do* inevitably act like that.

Lol but it’s always busy and we’re always understaffed

you have an extremely high stress threshold and i applaud you, and while i don’t care about the *times* that customers are waiting, i do care about the consequences of customers waiting ie: customers being hostile and angry with me and others, causing everyone else to stress out and feel like trash

Because it makes you work on two stations at once. Our hot bar and cold bar stations aren't that close to each other so I have to walk back and forth like 100 times a shift because everybody wants foam on their drinks. Also it ends up making frappes take longer because it takes time to make the foam that could be used blending frappes.

Starbucks tells us to be fast. They teach us to sequence and make multiple drinks at a time.
It's not the foam itself, it's in combination with every other drink and sequencing.
I am not capable of making a Venti Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso with Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam at the same time as a Pink Drink with strawberry puree in Vanilla Sweet Cream Foam on top. There is no way to sequence that.

Instead of working on the pink drink while shots are pulling, I have to make the foam for the first one.

i agree. i’d rather make any cold foam as opposed to a mf frap

We've been getting a ton of people getting cold foam on their fraps instead of whip. So that's been a blast.
