Transphobia and racism at my store(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Pinephish
Yesterday one of the shift managers said a very transphobic remark, and I found out today this is not the first or second time they have said something like this, along with making racist remarks and abusing their power. (I'm using they/them to be anonymous) I'm unsure how to proceed at the current moment besides telling the store manager. This shift did apologize, but I feel it was more because I was like wft and not because they actually felt sorry. There are several individuals that dont use peoples pronouns, but this shift is the worst. Any suggestions or has anyone gone through anything similar. (Also I'm a nonbinary person who uses they/them pronouns) Edit with more context, I am not the one the transphobic comment was made at, as we have several trans and nonbinary partners at my store. Also all of us(the trans ppl) have said what our pronouns are several times, in person and through text.

Call Ethics and Compliance. They'll do an investigation and ensure this doesn't happen again.

A shift was fired from my store over remarks like these. I'd recommend calling partner resources (I think that's what it's called)? They'll probably open up an investigation and recommend further action if needed

Tell all of your coworkers that you use they/them pronouns.
As sucky as it is, you may occasionally be misgendered by them. Rushes happen, and shit hits the fan and sometimes people fuck up my pronouns. But they correct themselves, or I correct them, we share a laugh, and we keep working.
Wishing you the best! 👍

I don't know, this is a hard one. Are they intentionally using the wrong pronouns? Or is it like sometime one sometimes the other? If they are not using slurs, or treating you poorly, slandering etc, I don't know how much there is you can do. I would just correct them every time they make the mistake. Sorry you have to deal with this. I personally can't relate, but I imagine it would be difficult.
