i see some positivity posts here but partners what’s your favorite story or interaction with an ssv/sm? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ryannmm5
it’s the sad posts where other partners don’t get time off they need, or get treated awful & their sm/ssv do nothing, that make me feel so lucky to have my sm and ssvs that our store has. my sm gave me monday and tuesday off for 3 weeks in (with a gap between 2 & 3) to shadow my old teacher. & during the 2nd and the gap week i was gone for vacation for 6 days THEN was stuck bc of car trouble 12 hours away and they took care of everything.
(tbf i did tell them two days in advance i wouldn’t be home until wednesday night (day if my of my shift, but still!)

my ssv also gave my best friend a free drink for telling her what the baby’s name is going to be😂 (she’s 8 months pregnant now & this was a couple weeks ago) my best friend was supposed to be keeping it a secret from everyone other than the baby’s dad.

I first joined when I was 16 and spent my entire senior year of HS working at my hometown Starbucks. I worked my ass of because everyone else at my store had been with the company for multiple years so I felt I had to be at their level. I answered every single call to come in and in my days off and I often worked over minor hours because I didn’t want too fuck anyone over by short staffing them. Me and my manager had a pretty good relationship, but we didn’t work together too often because I was primarily a closer. I first understood how my manager valued me at my first PDC when I lowballed myself in all the categories and she told me that I was in the upper echelon of partners in my store. It meant a lot to me that a manager of 20+ years thought that highly of a then 17 year old kid.

My SM and I are in a war over where to put the straws in drive thru. Literal war. Both of us are whining to the DM about it and get really wound up but we're laughing about it all the time because we're both stubborn AF. And I'm just a barista.

My SM also loves urnex and fills a sink with it on Sunday opens to drop stuff in. One time he dumped the apple cider vinegar we were killing fruit flies with into it and basically napalmed the store.
