Does anyone know if you are a shift and you stepped down to be a barista again you get a pay cut and doing that?
voxinx50 points1y ago
Yeah you take the pay cut since you’re not a supervisor.
jackissosick41 points1y ago
This feels relatively obvious to me
phillipniemann5 points1y ago
Right.

They should retro adjust it to reflect any raises you may have had if you had not moved up

Thanks!

Your pay gets cut but you can negotiate because of experience, how long you’ve been with the company etc. been there did that(recently)

4 1/2 yes now
heir_majesty4 points1y ago
Yes, you get a pay cut. They took $4 from me. I don't know if it was because the SM hated me, I thought it was a bit much.
Lesbiansmoker3 points1y ago
I mean it’s a corporation…the managers don’t personally decide how much of a pay cut you get.
heir_majesty0 points1y ago
Well I got a $2 raise when I promoted, and a $4 decrease when I demoted.
Lesbiansmoker1 points1y ago
My apologies, I’m not saying that your store manager didn’t discriminate against you and give you too much of a cut. I just mean that they aren’t allowed to do that. It’s Starbucks, if something like that happens you can make a case against your boss.

Same

i used to be a shift and i stepped down, i did take the pay cut, but in my opinion its way better being a barista than a shift shifts dont get paid enough for what they have to deal with
PirateKing17182 points1y ago
Agreed
asinglearrow2 points1y ago
they cut my pay even though my manager told me my pay would be the same XD i got up and lied to lmao (i stepped down right after ssv hourly wage was increased from $12.70 to $15, not sure what the exact raise amount was)
PirateKing17181 points1y ago
Yeah I’m about to do the same
jazzysoranio2 points1y ago
Yup. And I’ve seen a lot of shifts who when they stepped down their pay went down farther than their raise was. Good practice: look through your pay stubs from when you were first promoted and calculate what your raise was if you don’t already know. Then, if your pay decrease is more than that when you step down you’ll at least have something more tangible to fight it with. It doesn’t make sense when your decrease when stepping down is somehow more than your increase when you were promoted, but they’ll do it anyway because most of the time no one fights it. They do that because they can. We have to push back more and it helps when our arguments have more solid substance like “when I was promoted my raise was $1.50. And now when I step down my pay half been lowered by $2.00. That’s not acceptable.”
PirateKing17181 points1y ago
Thank you for this! I’ll definitely have to look into this! I may dm you if I need any help haha!
sadboy08102 points1y ago
We’ll if you’ve been with the company for 7 years your technically tenyered (idk how to spell it) but it’s just a funny cool way of saying “you’ve been working here a while and we noticed ;)” but with that being said you get some leeway with things like this had a close friend/shift want to be a barista again the manger was gonna approve her shift rate but needed dm approval as well. Things is she only wanted to work 2-3 days outta the week and had multiple behavioral incidents over her Career…so that didn’t happen but possible… be good to y’all managers :)
