So I read the weekly update today and this might be a bold post considering… but they’re planning on mandating the vaccine? Are there any other partners that aren’t getting it? I’m scared to death about getting the chopping block. Does anyone have some clarification?
Also let’s please keep this discussion respectful, I don’t want to hear about why I should lose my job because I am not getting the vax. Thank you <3
Edit: okay I guess I need to be more specific. I’m not asking for people to tell me I need to get it and how I’ll be saving lives. This thread isn’t for you guys. No quantity of those comments is going to alter my choice. Im trying to connect with other who are choosing not to get vaccinated. No disrespect for any of you for getting it but I stand where I stand.

Starbucks is subject to a US government mandate affecting all businesses with more than 100 employees. The goal is to reduce the spread of a deadly contagious disease with a vaccine that’s been proven safe and highly effective after millions of doses given out in the past 10 months.
The weekly update also includes instructions on how to request a medical exemption if you have a condition that prevents you from getting vaccinated. Vaccines are more effective the more people get them because the virus will have a harder time spreading, so if you’re able to get vaccinated, it’s very important to do so to help protect the people around you who cannot, even if you consider yourself to be at a low risk of illness.

Exemptions will be allowed.
Realistically, if you can get the vaccine, get it. You work with food and beverages 24/7. Protect your customers, others, and yourself 🙂

Not this again.

if you have a medical or (real) religious exemption to the vaccine, there will likely be some paperwork you fill out with your manager and starbucks. otherwise, seriously, to anyone reading this, just get the fucking shot. they’re free, and the risks of the vaccine are not as bad as the risks of COVID.

My shift team and I had a discussion today about it, though we are all vaccinated, our ASM and SM discussed with us that if you need to be exempt for personal/health/religious reasons you can go through the formal process with partner relations. I would ask your ASM or SM about it!

guess you’re going to lose it ////:

To answer your original question, the reason why this is being discussed is because there is likely going to be a federal mandate for all companies over 100 employees to mandate the vaccine. That being said the update does go over exemptions and that type of thing.

Not vaccinated and don’t plan on getting it although I have a medical exemption. Upon asking my manager how to go about submitting that he had no idea and said he needed to contact partner resources. I think that Starbucks should offer a second option such as testing, which many companies are doing. They keep talking about protecting ourselves and others, which I believe we all should do, but the vaccine isn’t full proof. We don’t know the long term effects of it and that is the concern many have which is completely valid. I didn’t feel the need to ask for an exemption until Starbucks said they were going to mandate it. If they don’t except it they’ll have to let me go, no way am I quitting I need unemployment, also they better have a damn good reason.

can someone send me/give me directions on how to read the weekly updates? are they on store ipads or is it an email..? thanks!

Your store manager should print them out each week, but they are also available through the partner hub accessible on your store computer and *i think* iPad but I’m not sure about the iPad bc I never use them

I'm not getting it. I did get asked by my SM about my status through text and now I'm worried seeing that this might be mandated...
ryannmm51 points1y ago
my sm told me that the only reason they “need to know” whether you’re getting it or not is because if you state whether you are vaccinated or not you get paid isolation time if you’re exposed. if you choose to not tell your status they don’t pay you for isolation time.

Thank you!

you will lose your job most likely unless you have a medical or religious exemption that you can document. mandate is a mandate.
paolathepanda2 points1y ago
Yeah ok you sound like a fascist.

My only worries are the time I’ve invested at ASU that I’m not done with yet. Is that all essentially wasted?

You definitely can!

Didn’t they mandate the vaccine a couple months ago
ryannmm53 points1y ago
no
StormTheParade1 points1y ago
IIRC - sort of? He signed the mandate, AFAIK, but it doesn't go into effect immediately and, IIRC, is being contested by the courts at the moment so it's sort of in purgatory
