My store is in a downtown/business area, no drive through. About 60-70% of our business is MOP or delivery. I'd estimate that about 80% of in store customers pay with the app or card.
Cash tips for the last several months have been 47c - 70c, usually more like 55c an hour. I just looked at digital tips on my pay stub and over the year it's about 7c an hour.
It doesn't matter what we do, tips havent budged much. Manager keeps talking about how we have such low customer connection scores, and that our drink times are too slow. Our partners have been working *hard* to connect more, have a cleaner store, make faster more accurate drinks, have food available, every metric. And it won't budge.
We have about 4 minors who work in the store and bank on tips to buy school supplies for them and their siblings. I have to pay for parking, and I thought tips would easily cover that but it doesn't. Is this a "sorry you have stingy customers" problem? Or a Starbucks tech/system/compensation problem?
I should also mention, other stores in the district hit 1.50-2.00/hr on a typical week, but they almost all have drive throughs and are in more suburban areas.
