Whats this i hear about $15/hr come next summer? (self.starbucksbaristas)

A friend of mine sent me an article and i saw on tv that starbucks is working on doing $15/hr for base pay and up to $23/hr for shifts. Have you guys heard of this cause this is the first I’ve heard of this?

I just heard something about this, too. I’m looking for news/articles about it. I heard it had to do with their strategy to keep us from unionizing.

This won't stop the union movement. This is just one thing that shows if we put pressure on corporate, we can build a better company with baristas at the center, not a man who makes 14 million a year.

I currently make 17.35 as a barista in washington state, my shifts make I think somewhere around 25? Would our pay go up as well?

does this mean current shifts will get paid at least $23 come next summer? (I live in Texas so not sure if it applies here too)

It says baristas will make between $15-$23 based on market and tenure. There will be a 27% difference between *starting* barista and stating shift pay. IE if baristas start at $15 shifts will start at $19.

Also only very experienced baristas (say a store manager who stepped down to barista) in a high wage market will make around $23.

If they back out of that plan, we should all just put in our 2 weeks. Honestly, if they were gonna do this anyways, might as well just have done it for this October's raise. They're just so freaking greedy. It's about time they get threatened, AND ABOUT TIME TO START PAYING US BETTER SINCE THESE CUSTOMERS DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACT.
