I’m not setting up the launch ❤️(self.starbucksbaristas)

Title speaks for itself! I’m being scheduled 10 hours to set up the launch because my team lead doesn’t know how (target.. target in a mall) and I refuse to continue doing her job. Fuck the launch.

Yo your lead sucks! How do they have that position and not know how to do a launch?! Like I'm enraged for you.

I didn’t come in for my open shift one day so we didn’t open until 12 because she doesn’t know how 🙃 and we had to wait till the mid shift showed up

So pretty much useless? It sounds like the team is carrying her and not her carrying the team. I hate leads like that.

Ten hours to set up launch? I’ll have 30 minutes if I’m lucky. Granted, I’m at a WPS and I’m only getting 5 drinks and only grande hot red cups, but ten hours anywhere seems excessive. I can’t imagine what would take so long.

I have to work my full shift and set up after we close

Gotcha! That makes a lot more sense. I always set up launch in the morning, I’d rather the night crew not do it, I’m not sure they’d do it the way I’d want it done.

Yeah good for you lol fuck that
But she "doesn't know how"?? Wdym? What part of it is confusing?
BusyLeek2351 [OP]5 points1y ago
She doesn’t know how to do anything. She can’t open, make drinks, doesn’t know drink codes or food service procedures

It’s called delegation. Most Starbucks stores have one or more partners that aren’t necessarily leads setting up the sets. As a 10 year partner that’s how I’ve always seen it, in my district at least. It’s literally putting signs and merchandise up. You’re being paid to be off the floor and set up at your own pace. Plus 10 hours is very generous. My store has 4 hours split between two partners. So they’re expected to get everything up and ready in two hours. We fight to do the set because it’s a break from the monotony of the everyday tasks. Be grateful your lead sees you as responsible and trusts you with the task.

That’s not what it is because I’m supposed to be moved from that area and they’re only waiting to do so after I set up the launch because my team lead -who doesn’t know how to make iced coffee, doesn’t know what a macchiato is, doesn’t know anything about Starbucks at all, and has only made 2 drinks in 4 months- can’t set up the launch and then I’m being moved.
I don’t need to be grateful for shit. I have to work a double shift due to being understaffed, and then stay after closing to set up the launch. It’s really only an hour to set up. Maybe my wording was confusing on the part.
Fuck them

Fair enough, I’m sure it’s exceptionally frustrating then. Tell those frustrations to higher ups in the store. Always assume they don’t know unless they’re told. Say the leads actions are hurting the customer experience and they’ll hopefully pay attention. (They usually care more about that than employee experience) Worse comes to worse Starbucks corporate stores are always looking for new employees, we get better perks (I did target Starbucks too back in the day), the workloads easier and spread among more people and they’re likely to higher someone who will be a quick train. I wish you luck.

I’m putting in my two weeks very soon. Our connection score is a 13 but it’s all our fault and they don’t assume it’s management at all when she sits down for 6 hours a day. Someone goes home crying once a week and we’re all depressed to say the least. Everyone is leaving so they’ll most likely have to close or reduce hours since there isn’t enough workers in the entire district
