Be prepared to literally be the only one on bar. One or two barista plays are where Tarbucks' live.
Master sequencing. It will save your life. You will be making a literal ton of frappuccinos. It's about 50/50 for both bars. Sequencing will help you solo those rushes when you're in a two barista play.
Be prepared to not be all Starbucks. Learn the difference between the two. Ie tarbucks can only do the 150 star tier and can't use the QR codes, can't transfer balances, etc.
You're also joining the one work center that is both forgotten and treated like shit by the rest of the team. Do not let team members walk all over you.

i worked @ a macys sbux before i worked at corporate so we had to write on cups and honestly it’s rlly easy after the first few days! you’ll remember how to mark drinks quickly. And for me working at a licensed store, we had rushes but it’s definitely not as stressful as corporate! you’ll do amazing

be prepared for constant berating and harassment from customers. Give them whatever they want so they will leave. You will be shocked at how these ADULTS act. And starbucks encourages it. Also dont be afraid to ask for help if you are overwhelmed thats what your team is for. Dont let people treat you like a robot, youre a human being doing your best and there IS a limit on how fast you can get Karens drink out 💚💚

when you feel overwhelmed, let someone know- as burnout is super easy at this job! i’m glad i have a manager who regularly does a “burnout checkup” but not all stores have someone as generous!

Hey!!! I was in the exact same boat when I started at tarbucks! My advice is just to be really open-minded. If you have anything to offer to make your lives easier, offer it! Cup-marking is gonna be so important. It’s really not that hard as long as the point gets across! You will end up being alone at some point during breaks, but at least you get 2 15s and a 30 depending on your shift lengths. You’re going to be EXHAUSTED from both jobs and I found I liked target more because it was a little easier and I like being alone most of the time. Be prepared for Ecolab (QASA) at all times. They’re brutal and it’s a big deal at target. Also dress code is annoying at target, but roll with the punches. I ended up quitting corporate (I miss it sometimes) and became a starbucks team leader! Super easy to do when you’ve already got corporate xp!!! Good luck and have fun!

Kinda echoing what's already been said: be prepared for a lot of berating from customers who have nothing better to do but treat retail workers like garbage.
Most importantly though, be patient with yourself. I've worked a variety of different cafe/restaurant-style jobs over the course of five or so years. All of them were small businesses before i started at tarbucks so working for a large company has been a real adjustment. Even with all of my barista experience from previous cafes, it took me a long time to finally adjust to the "sbux way" of doing things, plus the various bits and pieces of lingo and etiquette on both register and bar. I'm still adjusting to a lot of it, actually.
Also if you're struggling to find the difference between the grande, tall, and venti hot cups just by sight: look on the bottom of the cup along the little inner ridge with all the writing on it. Somewhere along there it should say either 12oz (tall), 16oz (grande) or 20.5oz (venti)! I wish there was an easy way to do that for the lids too but sadly there is none unless you work at a reserve or roastery store that uses those fancy black to-go cups and lids.

Most of the labels are just like abbreviations ie. Mocha= m, pumpkin cream cold brew = pccb, and so on plus you can give ppl free or lower priced stuff since you dont have to put it in the machine. Anyways i love tarbucks it can be pretty chill and we get paid like way more than corporate stbx (at least where i am) Have fun and good luck!
