i have a shift today from 6-9 marked as “non coverage”. i’ve never had this before and i’ve been a partner since july. what should i expect going into work tonight??
edit: to add, on the 3rd, half of my set is marked as “promo set”. what does that mean??
EDIT AFTER SHIFT: i asked my SSV and he was like “oh i have no idea. i’m putting you on bar” but thank you everyone<3
but for everyone saying like food pulls n such- we do that like, all the time? i feel like it’s every shift i work, and it’s usually either my ssv or a long time barista who does it. wouldn’t be me😅

i believe on the 3rd, your shift is to set up the holiday stuff

Yes, every Wednesday I am ‘non-coverage’ because I unload the pastry order.

Non coverage is basically anything off the floor. Meeting with manager, online training / my learning, etc. For a full shift there's like a 50/50 it's an accident and you'll work a normal shift (at least in my experience). As for the promo set, that means you're helping set up the holiday stuff. Displays, signage, etc

ooo okay so a few days ago my SM told me i had mylearning to do but.. i never did it. is that what i’m probably doing tonight? does that take 3 hours lol? i’ve never done that i don’t think

My learning is also usually scheduled as training, not non-coverage. You’re probably helping setting up the launch.

Id be shocked if any mylearning took three hours, but that could very much be why you're scheduled like that. It's really no big deal, you'll probably work normally most of the day

ah okay thanks! 😊

I think in my experience non coverage is usually our deep cleans which is on wednesdays and its after we close

Sometimes store managers just schedule that because they don’t have the labor and they can get away with having so many non-coverage hours
depressoroast3 points1y ago
Noncoverage is basically for any task that you are not on the floor deployed. But, some managers (like myself) code shifts as noncoverage to hide extra labor to support the floors better. I’m sure your manager will have a plan! Just ask!

Promoset is setting up for holiday launch. No idea what “non coverage” means
bugzyys2 points1y ago
Non-coverage for that length of time is probably to put away a delivery that comes in. The non-coverage on the 3rd is most likely putting up everything for the holiday launch the next day.

I feel like I always get that error and nothing happens 🤷♀️

Is it possible you’re the one responsible for doing tips? I get that for my tip hours
