Thats it. He threw cream cheese at me bc “ruined his experience and was a pain in the ass” (his words) i told him his decaf pourover might take a few minutes and then accidentally gave him cream cheese with his bagel instead of butter

Im not upset abt it. I think its funny. But holy cow some people are just so bitter.

official store bans are so hard to get, unfortunately. we have this guy who sexually harasses us and is rude all the time and keeps coming back despite being asked not to. somehow, though, the ban paperwork got turned down

I would just refuse to serve him, bc you can. If everyone in the store refuses to serve him then he can come in, but it won't be much fun for anyone, AND you can call the police if he gets aggressive 👍🏻

At my store there was a customer we banned because he repeatedly throw stuff at baristas. So now when we see his car pull up we just call the cops but besides that there really isn't a way to ban someone.

Common assault is when a person inflicts violence on someone else or makes them think they are going to be attacked. It does not have to involve physical violence. Threatening words or a raised fist is enough for the crime to have been committed provided the victim thinks that they are about to be attacked.

Years ago, when my area took the trash cans out of their drive thru lanes, I had a regular (who was already a pain our collective behinds) ask where he can throw his trash. I said I’m sorry, but I can’t take customer trash through the window. He said in a real snotty way that since he couldn’t throw it out at the end of the DT anymore, I had to take it. Then, he threw his trash at me through the window and drove off laughing.

This is emblematic of a much larger problem. Getting food and drink thrown in our faces for $12/hr should be a very clear message that we need to be paid MUCH more for the work we do. SSVs and baristas alike. Now is the time for change. UNIONIZE.
