management hired so many people and saying they need hours; I myself is new 2 months and barely get bar time. So rude! I feel they tryin get rid of me, or cut benefits. What do you say?(i.redd.it)

What is your availability like? I’m sure if you have decent availability another store close to you would love the help and need it!
shesmagicdatone [OP]28 points1y ago
I do have decent availability, I even volunteer to open or close, and volunteer to do clean play. I feel they spin this because I’m still learning bar. I pretty much learn almost everything except for bar. They won’t give me enough hours to practice. I even ask even just for hour or two before the closing time. Just so I can practice. 😒it’s just frustrating.
desairologist17 points1y ago
I think it’s worth asking about transferring, and if your store manager isn’t being responsive I would definitely talk to your district manager and see if they have a better store for you! Knowing how to bar is important, but not the whole job. Also, if you’re actively trying to learn and no one is helping, I would reach out and see if there are other options for you. With your availability and willingness to work, I’m sure there’s a store somewhere in your area that would love to have you! Even if you’ve only worked for a few months, if the situation is explained I’m sure they will find somewhere that you can have a much better experience at
shesmagicdatone [OP]9 points1y ago
Barely 3 months now, so you’re saying I can transfer? How or who do I ask?
haydensidun17 points1y ago
You can’t transfer until you’re 6 months in. However you can pick up shifts at other stores and maybe use that as an opportunity to see which stores you might want to transfer to.
dogsofwintergaming11 points1y ago
You can transfer before six months now, it's up to manager discretion.
haydensidun5 points1y ago
Really? Then nvm
ellsb3lls27 points1y ago
same, we have so many new people now (i started in aug) and everyone’s hours are cut 😐
shesmagicdatone [OP]5 points1y ago
It’s bullshit!
ellsb3lls6 points1y ago
totally. i want to start asu in january but i don’t even know if i can manage the min. 20 hrs/wk because i don’t even get that anymore. i hope it gets better, idk if it will 😩
empidge5 points1y ago
if you talk to your SM about it and tell them you’re going to ASU so you need those hours and they don’t give you them, I’d take it up with your DM bc that ASU benefit is nice
ellsb3lls2 points1y ago
thank you, i probably will
It_is_Katy1 points1y ago
I feel obligated to tell you that the minimum is 25 hours a week now, according to my manager as of a week ago when I asked her about it. She looked into it for me and said the 20 a week was a temporary measure due to covid that has since been lifted.
ellsb3lls2 points1y ago
(screams internally) thank you for telling me, i appreciate it! 😩
FearlessSentence966710 points1y ago
what’s crazy is hours are getting cut and yet we’re still severely understaffed every single day
Tsunami_Eels10 points1y ago
GOD I FELT THIS. we have so many new people that my hours have been cut these next two weeks 🥲 I literally can’t even survive off of 3 day work weeks
shesmagicdatone [OP]4 points1y ago
I feel you…😔
scmfckwaido8 points1y ago
Come transfer to my store, we desperately need it
k8mitchy5 points1y ago
I was JUST complaining about this LMAO. My availability is SUPER open. I specifically requested 40hrs a week and I’m barely breaking 25. Which is funny considering how every time I’m working, we’re understaffed and struggling? Not sure where any of it makes sense.
persona-22 points1y ago
I didn’t know we were allowed to request 40. Occasionally I’ll see the SSVs at my store get 40, but no one else ever does unless they go pick up shifts.
wildaloofrebel555 points1y ago
I guarantee they’ll need you more than that, if you’re willing to pick up shifts on short notice. My hours went down as well, but plenty of people don’t want to work or get sick or what have you.
sero50744 points1y ago
Woah that is crazy!! Advocate for yourself!
shesmagicdatone [OP]6 points1y ago
Yes I’m planning to ask either for more hours or get training.
Majestic-Baker47183 points1y ago
on another note, what’s this app? i can only access my schedule through a website it would be so much easier from an app!!
[deleted]2 points1y ago
The SBUX Partner Hours App. The sheet on how to install it is on the Partner Hub
empidge3 points1y ago
if you have other stores in your area, we have partners from other stores that will come to our store and hang up their availability next to our paper schedules with their contact info on it, so if we need help we can give them a call, maybe you could try that?
verdeuce2 points1y ago
They’re preparing for the busiest time of year. Hold out and your hours will go up, the fluctuation in business and partners over the next two months is going to be huge
shesmagicdatone [OP]3 points1y ago
That’s an absurd managerial strategy : cut every one’s hours, so then they don’t get train enough to learn seasonal drinks, don’t get to experience holiday rush, not learning the expectations during the busy season and yet expect to be good “partner” who can make the drink and hand it thru the drive thru under 40 seconds. Absolutely absurd!
sh3nan1gans_2 points1y ago
Odd question! But how are you checking your schedule online!! My manager told me we couldn’t :/
shesmagicdatone [OP]1 points1y ago
You have to download the App Cafe, StarbuxPartners Hrs app, and Hub app.
sh3nan1gans_1 points1y ago
None of these popped up on my App Store :(
tauntinglightning2 points1y ago
they aren’t on the app store directly. you can find an instruction sheet on the partner hub i believe!
sh3nan1gans_2 points1y ago
Oh thank you!!
sh3nan1gans_1 points1y ago
I found them!!
boxinghamster161 points1y ago
I wish this was a problem at my store. We have partners regularly getting overtime and still can't operate our full hours. We've been closing early for almost 3 months now.
fuck-pickles1 points1y ago
I would try looking around at other stores to see if they need coverage. There was a time we had a temporary store manager (ours took time off) and they really didn’t like me so they cut my hours but I had befriended a lot of store managers in our district and they had my back when it came to hours. Not sure if covid allows you to work at another store so correct me if I’m wrong, I left the company almost two years ago.
ElectricalScience81 points1y ago
dude the week of the 15th, i’m scheduled for 3 days and they’re baby shifts like are you kidding me
Sahalio1 points1y ago
Run for your life
Puzzleheaded-Coat-141 points1y ago
Honestly so I'm a shift and my biggest thing it making we'll round barista but Sometimes you have shift managers or store managers who are free to do that especially when we have busier moment but honestly the only way you guys are going to learn it by putting you in your uncomfortable position so you can learn from it and so what I tell my baristas who deal with the other shifts is advocate for yourself and say something to your leads and ask them to put you on these positions and give you a chance!
JAYtheVILLIAN1 points1y ago
You might have to switch stores
Rosenmaecen1 points1y ago
Just curious if you’re a minor?
shesmagicdatone [OP]1 points1y ago
No I’m not.
Rosenmaecen1 points1y ago
Depending on the duration of your shift offer to stay longer hours on the days your already scheduled?
