How do I order ? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by blahhness
First things first, I appreciate all you lovely Starbucks employees and baristas and managers and everyone and I do not want to take up any more of your time than I have to !! I live in a big city and I see the insanity you deal with and I think you all deserve medals !!
I would just like to ask for help on what do I say to make sure I get the correct order for my coffee ? I want a cold brew with light ice and like just a touch of sweet cream, not a whole head of sweet cream (like a head of beer) just like a tablespoon for a tall drink. Almost every time I order the order gets put in as a vanilla sweet cream cold brew and I physically cannot drink something that sweet and I don’t want to bother anyone to ask to remake it so I end up throwing it out a lot after a few sips and end up wasting coffee 😞 what’s the right way to order to ensure the same coffee no matter what Starbucks I go to ? Thanks in advance ♥️

Not your fault at all, but try specifying “a cold brew, no sweetener, light ice, and very light sweet cream”. I’m sure some baristas get into auto pilot, hear cold brew and sweet cream, and just hit vanilla sweet cream cold brew (which has additional vanilla syrup).

I prefer "just a bunny rabbit's kiss of sweet cream" but that's just because when I worked in Syracuse this huge body builder dude used to order his cream that way and it always made my day.

For sure, happens a lot and I don’t blame them but I just don’t want to be wasteful.. but I definitely will try ! Thank you so much

I would order like “can I get a tall cold brew with light sweet cream. Like essentially a drop. “Or you can ask for it on the side when you order it and put how much you want .

I'd suggest getting the black cold brew, light ice with the sweet cream on the side, since it's a freepour. Someone could accidently put too much easily

On the side ?? Wow I didn’t even know it was a possibility, what would the side come in ?
hollowsockets 8 points 1y ago
Usually a short cup.

Either a pup cup (~3-4oz) or a short cup(8oz), usually a short cup since they can have lids

Actually if you’re getting a cold brew with sweet cream it’s cheaper to order it in as a vanilla sweet cream cold brew with no vanilla. (though the way you’re ordering it is still correct)
Also, ordering it this way eliminates the problem of them always ringing it in as a vanilla sweet cream cold brew and putting vanilla syrup in the drink. I would still try to order the sweet cream on the side in your situation tho
wow sorry that sounded like a mess. I hope it made my point a little bit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I appreciate you 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

OP you sound just like me, I’ll pour myself a nitro cold brew for my break and add a thimble of vanilla sweet cream. No vanilla syrup. It’s also good black. When I order at a different Starbucks they give me a vanilla sweet cream cold brew. Way too sweet. I have to specify “cold brew, no vanilla syrup, tiny bit of vanilla sweet cream.” And reassure them that I really mean tiny. Because most of our customers really dislike coffee and want to buffer against the flavor of coffee with sugar and milk

A thimble of vanilla sweet cream sounds absolutely perfect !! I wish I could properly get that through to the barista when I order without sounding like a bitch 😭
FfierceLaw 2 points 1y ago
You better take a photo of a thimble in someone's hand for scale, lol! The moment I typed that I thought how it revealed my age. Had a customer start asking for 1/4 teaspoon in her iced coffee, like she just wanted it a little "stained" (my word) with half and half. She has since given up and started taking it black. I was the only one who could visualize 1/4 teaspoon. No one understands us black/near black drinkers
blahhness [OP] 2 points 1y ago
Oh my god I think they’d contemplate spitting in my coffee if I did that haha 😭
blahhness [OP] 1 points 1y ago
(I don’t think it’s an age thing, more of a preference maybe cause I’m in my early twenties or maybe I’m just an outlier idk)

It's not the black/unsweetened thing that I meant about age, it's that - apart from Monopoly - no one uses thimbles! Probably don't even have one in their home. They would not get the reference
