It’s all so ugly.
The hot paper cups. Ugliest designs I’ve ever seen. I dug up some unused hot cups from last year and they looked infinitely better than the ones we have this year.
The sleeves (literally the same brown one except with a few white stars).
And the cups. Don’t even get me started on the cups. Half of them aren’t even holiday themed. A couple of them look like some of the ones Target sells for 5 bucks a pop. The hot pink one is hideous.
Also who the fuck decided PURPLE is a good color for holidays? What the fuck? Why purple? ***PURPLE***. Makes no sense.
I was working until 8:30 last night setting up for holiday launch and I wanted to puke every time we unpacked something new.
I would love to meet Starbucks’ design team and Karen the fuck out of them because this shit is UGLY.

Purple seems odd but maybe it was pulled from the Advent colors? I will agree the cups look pretty cheap and hideous though.

But it’s not even a good shade of purple. Maybe a darker, more royal purple to complement the red, but light lavender? Why? And again, purple isn’t even a holiday color, so…why?

Purple can be festive, but usually a dark purple, which signifies opulence and luxury. Light purple is almost the opposite, lol.

I had the opportunity to interview an associate director of design about the holiday stuff, but I turned it down, explained that I didn’t want to give the siren shine and I stand with the Buffalo partners.
My editor said no problem, gave someone else the assignment and encouraged me to chase a story about store-level conditions that’s leading to organizing and partners quitting.

This is my first time seeing any Christmas Starbucks cups, any change is nice from the same old white cups. I honestly thought everything looked great and festive!

Some of the designs are awful (there have been awful ones at every launch for the past few years it seems), but I gotta say I really love that pink tree design on the reusable cold cup (from the set of five). Everything else is meh at best. I wouldn't spend money on them even if I still got the partner discount.

They had decorative sleeves last year and come to think of it, I think they always have. Last year it was red, green, and white stripes or something like that but either way, they looked a lot better than this year.

I think the hot cups look super busy, but I think after all of the holiday cup drama of the past years they were maybe trying to make something festive but not directly Christmas, but not-not Christmas enough that the people who think Starbucks hates Christmas won’t see Christmas in the design.
