I keep a notebook to help me keep track of my daily tasks, money drops, bag numbers for deposit bags. I learned the hard way that you will forget how much you put in the bag, what was done, etc… so at least I have a place to look back and double check. Lean on your team ask them what they need from you so you can grow in your role and help them. If things seem chaotic on the floor, stop, take a breath and reassess. The teams looking to you to be calm and have a plan so if you need a moment to figure the plan out take it. Open communication has always helped too, let the team know what the play is, what breaks are coming up and the general situation for the next hour or so. It keeps people less hangry or the like if they know they’re getting their lunch after so and sos ten is done. Don’t feel bad in delegating or coaching. Your job is to be on the floor making sure things are running smoothly so if trash needs running or dishes need doing, or even if the pull needs to get done, those are things baristas can do so you can be making sure the customers and team are taken care of. Also don’t be afraid of not knowing the answer if a problem or question arises lean on your manager and the partner hub to get the correct answers. Starbucks provides a lot of really good information on the hub for us. Hope this helps! Good luck!

i got promoted about 6 or 7 months ago and it took me awhile to get everything down. i’m STILL learning everyday, my best advice for you is to just give yourself grace and be nice to yourself. i beat myself up and convince myself i’m doing a horrible job or compare myself to the other shifts.
if you are a former barista who got promoted, just think about your favorite shift supervisor you had and what made them so great, and try to embody that but in your own way. i think writing lists helps a lot too and making sure you have a good routine for yourself and the partners on the floor

ROTATE PARTNERS OFTEN AND ASK FOR THEIR INPUT! Keeping your team from being burnt out on a single position is something I have found helped me build a stronger floor where all my partners have now felt comfortable owning any position they go to! Keeps morale up and you’ll be surprised how you notice partners have more energy throughout their shift.
