Partner contracted to start training next week but still no word on schedule? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Hey everyone!
So my partner got hired by Starbucks a few weeks ago with a start date to train this coming Monday. He signed a contract and the hiring manager said she would be in touch about his training schedule closer to the week of training.
It’s Thursday and he’s supposed to start Monday and still has no info. He texted the manager earlier today but didn’t get a response.
Any advice? We’ve been living on my student TA income since august and it’s not enough for bills and food so we’ve been waiting a while for this job :( He doesn’t want to bother the manager but if he doesn’t hear by tomorrow we really need to figure out what’s going on. Starbucks wouldn’t ghost him would they?

They did this to me and I've read about it in this subreddit from others. I'd expect to hear by tomorrow, the Friday before is when I heard. If not, definitely follow up, several times if necessary, with the store manager. Not telling people when to show up and what their training schedule will look like until 48 hours in advance is bullshit.

It is BS but with the difficulty we’ve had securing work in a new place (you’d think with all these worker shortages it would be easy but apparently ghosting applicants is just as common…) we just are so scared of somehow getting ghosted even though he has a signed construct.
