Hi I have an interview Saturday for a position! I’m wanting a second job I work at ups Mon-Fri 10-4 but want something for evening and weekends! I worked at food lion for 2.5 years and Red Robin for a month as a hostess! Tell me the pros and cons working for Starbucks! I want to hear everything so if I am offered the job I should take it or not! And what is the average starting out pay! Thank you!

Pros: Starting pay and Benefits are pretty damn good. Your pay will depend on state laws, so if minimum wage is under $12 you’ll probably start out with around $12. Depending on the volume of your store, Tips will either be real good or real bad. I work at a high volume store, so I pull in $40 on average.

Cons: Customers. Always customers. You’ll have good ones, but when they’re bad, they’re BAD. Your manager(s) might also end up on this category, so I implore you to take a good look at your coworkers and see if they’re happy. If they look good, you’ll probably be fine.

If you wanna try and ask if the manager is good, always ask night crew first. Night Crew are the ones that usually get shorted by their managers, so they’ll have some interesting insight on if your manager is cool or not. Best of luck!

Starting pay just got bumped up nationally to $12/hr plus tips. I started above $12 because of minimum wage laws in my state and so I make $13.60/hr or something like that currently and I work about 10 hours a week since I’m a full time student and I take home $7-11 in cash each week for tips. I’d say the pros are mostly the benefits. Free coffee, college, insurance. But the problem with the last two is that you have to work a certain number of hours in order to qualify which will be hard for you if you already have a job/s.

Cons I’d say is the shitty customers. While they’re not the majority, it sucks to have a hot drink thrown at you 15 minutes into your shift. I have a fantastic manager and a fantastic staff working alongside me so I have no complaints there.
