Help! My coworker found a rat in the kiosk (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by kirbywithknife1
So I work in a grocery store kiosk and I’ve been working there for 4 months. I didn’t see it because I didn’t work today, but my coworker sent a picture in our Snapchat GC today and it’s very alarming. He said he saw a rat in the kiosk, told someone at the front desk who said would tell our store manager, and put on a glove and threw the half dead rat outside.

I texted everyone else asking what we should do about it because no one had contacted me about shutting the kiosk down for inspection, and no one else was concerned at all that we are going to be serving consumables to customers where a rat has been.

Am I weird for thinking that? Should I not be worried? Is this something that other kiosks or stores deal with? What should I do?

I agree with you; definitely a huge health issue

I’m not even sure what to do. I have a shift tomorrow but I am not comfortable serving food and drinks to customers and the county health department is closed on weekends.

Do you know what your location's food safety and cleanliness audit company is? (It's EcoLabs around here). You might be able to contact them to tell them your concerns. Maybe they'll come do a "surprise" inspection? Imo Starbucks is more scared of EcoLabs than they are of the local health department 🤷‍♀️

I believe we are with EcoLabs, I’ll look into that!!

Can you contact the store manager of the store the kiosk is in directly?
kirbywithknife1 [OP] 1 points 1y ago
Not directly no, I’ll have to call the store and ask if the manager is still there
