Yep, a “splash” is rung up as a standardized measurement now. Regular splash is 1/2 inch, extra splash is 3/4 inch, and I believe a light splash is 1/4 inch.

Gotcha, I understand the mistake of reading it as 1/2 cream but it seems to be happening every time now so I’ll probably just start ordering 1/4 cream

Recent change. There was a corporate update about it that any barista who was aware of will not mistake 1/2” for 1/2 the drink. Since it’s corporate almost every store will probably be changing over to this, supposedly to standardize the amount of cream that is being put into drinks.

At first I didnt understand the need to change it, but that does make sense. I was always just told to eyeball when pouring in cream so having a standardized amount is fair

I suspect that it's mixing and the stark contrast colors mixes it to a light brown color. 1/2 is a splash. I'm a green bean and a customer just yelled at my coworker over this. We tried it later and it does mix pretty fast to make it look like it's half full of cream. The longer it sits etc..

When I get my drinks they usually arent mixed too well so I always get a straw so I can mix it as soon as I get it and it is always nearly white. Compared to how I used to get it before this new button, there is a major difference also in taste. I can taste that there is more cream. 1/2” is only half an inch but 1/2 is half of the entire drink. I believe its being misread as half cream.

Possibly, there's always that chance, but I don't think so. I would ask that store, apologize for second guessing them and then leave them a tip for being so thorough. It's pretty condescending to assume the worst. I mean you get it. Just remember if the nitro sits, it mixes fast. That's what I'm saying. And with orders being backed up, blah blah. You get it.

Oh for sure! Especially being an ex-barista I definitely understand, I never send drinks back and always tip. Especially with the holiday launch I would never want to add stress or assume the worst, but it has been a pattern ever since the button changed. I also just get the regular cold brew not the nitro so I’ve just been noticing its been extra creamy since the button changed but I just plan to ask for light cream from now on, no biggie!

Sounds like you're awesome then. Thank you.

With regular cold brew and iced coffee when a customer asks for dairy I always use the markings on the cup. Granted I'm a 220 so it's been a while since I've done basic drink training. But if we're still using the standard measure, there shouldn't be a drastic change in flavor unless a customer's asking for light or extra. Right? Or is it time for me to pull one of those lameass modules.
