Fired for being autistic. No seriously. (self.starbucksbaristas)

Yeah i was just fired and the separation letter is just full of lies with quite a paper trail to contradict them. I even had a meeting with hr and my two psychologists and they got so mad one ended the meeting and rescinded their release saying they didnt want these people to have access to them at all. Im sick of this bullshit. I was on an unpaid leave since August trying to work with them. Starbucks literally does not support disabled folks.

People don't often get separation letters from Starbucks, which makes me wonder if it came from Sedgewick? Sedgwick gets things wrong a lot. If the reasoning had to do with you not maintaining your documentation for leave of absence correctly when you did, or refusing to come back to work but no one asked you to come back, or your manager had agreed to a date in the future, tell your manager. Mine had to fight to reinstate a partner that Sedgewick terminated without warning while on a leave, no notice or questions to the manager at all about it. Both the partner and our manager were like, "wait what??"

Same. The interim manager decided I was “acting like a child” and “not interacting appropriately with the people younger than me” and fired me without even letting me try to explain myself? 95% of the staff was younger than me by quite a bit, and I’m only 30. This was also the same woman that got so mad at me when I asked to not wear a headset while on bar because it was too loud, that she threw it onto the counter and stormed off. I have really bad auditory processing disorder and I can’t try to understand people talking and make drinks properly at the same time. She refused to acknowledge my autism as well as the physical disabilities I have.

Sorry for crazy delay but this sucks im sorry! Im gonna post in general but i want to get a feel for how many of us are out there. Ive read a lot of people getting pushed out for disabilties and it would be impactful to bad together one day! Like autisms a thing my docs and I were like do they think we're making this up????? I know that seems to be a problem for autistic folks in general with all the dumb stereotypes but thats so awful for you and its not hard to accommodate at all either. You to look at things from a different angle than normal but we have a really good mindset for the job frankly. It was doubly awful because my store and sm were so freaking supportive like family in a way ive never had in a job before but of course corporate had to swoop in because they sure do love to swoop 😒
