Grande rant on the insane amounts of mobile orders (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by SmolLizardManth
I work at an extremely busy location. The amount of mobile orders we get alone are higher in volume than what other stores in the area get in overall traffic. Also we have a drive thru.

It gets to the point at least twice a week where we need to turn off mobile in order to catch up. However it’s never for long when they do agree to turn it off. We constantly have the issue where customers are waiting upwards of 30 mins.

This weekend was like that constantly like that except all day.

To be honest it’s just not sustainable for us to have mobile orders on weekends. There’s no feasible way for us to make the amount of orders we get in acceptable time frame. No matter how fast we work it’s impossible.

My manager has been trying to get us another bar but I don’t know what’s going on with that.

It seems pointless that corporate values drink traffic over customer satisfaction and partner burn out.

My question is has anyone else worked at a location like this? Did anything management do improve it or is it just a moot point?

Do any locations have a threshold that freeze mobile orders when then they get?

Months ago when our manager first came to our store, we would freeze mobile orders if there were only 4 people during the morning peak. Now my manager refuses to freeze mobile orders unless there are 3 people during the morning peak. It is so ridiculous since people need to take their breaks, so they have to leave 3 people on the floor. On Friday, there were only 4 people and my shift leader called my manager about the mobile orders, and the manager only wanted to see the number of orders per hour.

I personally feel like mobile orders need to stop. They ruined the Starbucks vibe and created a world of monsters.
