Well, I’ll tell you it’s so much more than barista basics. You have to be able to manage people. I spend 25% of my time as a barista. 75% is working with my baristas and encouraging them to do the best they can do. If that partner isn’t getting the position, that’s a conversation the SM should be having. And honestly, you can’t carry that on your shoulders. Plus an SM worth their salt would allow them to interview and then give them their areas of opportunity. It’s how our company functions. You got this.

Thank you! I hope it goes well if all goes through. A reason I’m worried is because while I was at my training store, I overheard a barista say she interviewed the position. That was about a week and a half ago. Now that my SM followed up with me about the position again today, might be safe to say this barista is not getting the position. maybe I’m in my head too much, or I have severe imposter syndrome from my limited management experience and feel for the other baristas aren’t getting the encouragement to become an SSV even though they know the basics well more than I do.
