Depends on your store and country really. If you're just skipping work because you can't be bothered to come in - just do your store a favour and quit. If you have a medical or personal reason as to why you might have to drop your shift from time to time then talk to your store manager to see what they can do to help. In Scotland you have a three month probabtion, but an employer can fire you without any reasons for 2 years after the start of employment.

I don’t think it’s exactly the call outs that are problematic, It’s the frequency of them that result in termination.

Unlimited - we are so short on workers, no one gets fired anymore
PeachGreenTea__3 points1y ago
This is not true, we may be generous but there is a breaking point that will result in termination. We can only work understaffed so many times before it’s not worth keeping someone.

If there’s a pattern it’s a matter of time. So if your a lazy bum who’s to cool or to hung over or you need to go play dnd just quit

It’s about the reasons not the amount. If you have a medical condition you need to talk about it with your sm but if it not something out of your control then three is a good number. If this has been a string of bad luck also talk to your sm about it. Right now you may just be scheduled less though I can’t say for sure

If you’re new, i believe it’s 3 no shows and you’re out of there because of the 90-days “probation” that all jobs requries since it shows how well you’re working/doing.

Someone got fired from my old store and I’m not sure if it was my managers doing or the barista but it too about a years worth of call outs for the barista to get fired and they called out a few times every month

If you’re sick and you’re using sick time you’ve earned, that can’t do anything.

Most stores to my understanding don't accept doctors notes. All my managers have made it very clear they don't matter to explain absence. They usually do it on their own terms and each manager has different criteria about it.

To the best of my knowledge, most managers operate on a three strike rule for it, but some will include tardies with that as a general attendance rule.
Every manager is different and some may make the call earlier or later than others.

what if you have a doctors note?
StormTheParade1 points1y ago
If it comes down to an availability conflict with the store, they can honestly just say your availability didn't mesh. The doctor's note only explains your absence, even if it justifies why you were gone, they may still decide to terminate. But this sounds like something you need to speak with your manager about
