Anyone else read the weekly update for November 8th? How do we all feel about this? I am not vaccinated and don’t plan to be. I feel weird being upset about it. I’ve followed every Covid rule thus far, but never thought Starbucks would turn my hand. How do you guys feel?

Fully Vaxxed but hope they will allow regular testing for the unvaccinated so we won’t be even more understaffed then we already are.

I agree. Also vaxxed. Maybe offer a better $ incentive for it as well. Which sucks for those who have already had the vaccine.

Yeah my major concern is they haven’t offered up any information about how to submit exemptions. When I asked my SM he couldn’t even give me an answer

They don't need to have a process, you can just say you want an accommodation. But you need to be able to (a) prove it, and (b) they get to decide whether or not it's "reasonable" or "burdensome" for them or not. A doctor's note will be taken more seriously than anything else (e.g. people undergoing chemo may have a good medical reason).

Also pretty upset. Brought up promoting to ASM and my manager was thrilled. Having a connection on Tuesday. She came up to me not five minutes later and was like…so I will have to bring up another matter on Tuesday as well…I knew what it was, she confirmed. So I’m going to weekly test if that is an option, and if not, I guess back to my old job and/or pursue my own coffee shop dream.
It’s pretty sad though. I have had a rough month or two getting back into the groove of being a supervisor, but recently I have been having a blast running plays and problem solving; it’s really just clicked. My team kicks ass, they acknowledge how much I bust my ass, and in return give me so much support on the floor. So it would really just suck to be separated now.
Bringing every question I have to this connection and coming as prepared as possible (if you have any questions you’d like me to ask, let me know). Please don’t come at me about saving lives or anything. I have my reasons and they are between me and God…and maybe my manager.

I just promoted to SSV and my SM and I had a long conversation. He basically implied the store can’t afford to lose me or train a new SSV, two other baristas where also promoted at the same time as me. He wants me to get vaccinated and straight up asked me why I wouldn’t. I told him my answer and called him out on asking way to personal of questions. I told him I will need to be let go of Starbucks won’t offer a testing option or something else. Also told him if one more person called me an antivaxer there would be problems. The disrespect I’ve faced as the only non vaccinated barista at my store since this mandate came out on the weekly updates is unreal.

I'm sorry you have to deal with that. People who disrespect you for your choice are disgusting.

Plenty of company’s are offering testing options lol. They keep saying they need to read over the language and make final decisions. It’s two months away before we need to know the answers they just need to tell us now.

Yep, and personally I approve of that option. But it's not required under the law; a company can have a blanket must-be-vaccianted policy.

It’s an osha mandate not starbucks

I know that, I’m asking for opinions on it.

Plenty of company’s are offering testing. Starbucks just has to decide to do that and file whatever they need to.
