two days ago one of our regulars had a seizure on the floor and their head started bleeding, 911 came of course but it was traumatizing. luckily I have the best manager and he let us close and came right away. We had a few mobiles to give out still but we closed drive and cafe. my shift stood by the cafe door to hand out the last mobiles. then a lady came up to the cafe and my shift goes "do you have a mobile order?" the lady goes "do you have any pumpkin scones??" then my shift says "I'm sorry we are closed for a medical emergency, I'm only handing out mobiles." then lady proceeds to ask "so you don't have any pumpkin scones then...??"
... we have the ambulance still out front, we just told you there's a medical emergency and all you care about is your damn pumpkin scone!?!? I'm sorry but we have blood all over the cafe, someone almost died but don't worry I'm sure another store can give you your fucking scone. luckily I have one shift left at this corporation but I swear this job makes me hate people.

jesus, that’s awful. it feels like 90% of our customer base lacks basic empathy

That customer's mom is a hoe. I'm sorry you had to witness that and that empathy is not common anymore. Sending you a big hug.

I appreciate you

I appreciate you as well fellow partner. We're all in this together and we should all have each other's backs. I don't care what store you work at, we're all still family and should raise each other up even if customers try to tear us down at times. We're human and we deserve respect. Just because someone is paying us for a good or service doesn't give them the right to abuse and degrade us. I've been in customer service and the service industry for 21 years and it doesn't get easier. It's the nice, sweet, happy customers I live for, the others can go bear hug a cactus. ❤ You are very appreciated.

The amount of times I've had to bite my tongue because I don't want to be fired is frustrating. I would have to refrain from telling her "we do but as someone had a seizure and busted their head, they're covered in blood and due to health code I'm not allowed to sell you blood dipped scones no matter how much you want them"

So many times I wish I could not so nicely explain common sense to some people. The bathroom code isn’t working? Does it say occupied? Yes? Oh my god! Someone’s in there dumbass!!! There’s 30 people in the cafe waiting for their drinks, you placed your order 2 minutes ago. And wanna know how long it’s gonna take? A fucking while my guy. Did you think you’d get expedited to the front for being Mr. Cool Guy or something? The 30 people here before you are gonna get served before you. Wild concept I know 😳

I’m bitter. When someone asks me that I will purposefully make their drink last. Or when someone pulls up to the drive thru and IMMEDIATELY starts going “hello? Hello? HELLO?” Before I even have a chance to respond I will purposely wait a bit before I greet them 💀💀

I used to do that when I worked at a DT location too 🥴 and yeah. If They’re like “how much longer until the ___ for ____” I always check the time and if the sticker says less than 2 min ago for non peak, 5-7 min for peak I go “oh it’s probably gonna be out soon! Sorry bout that!” Then tuck the drink away into a corner until I feel like making it
CheyenneJudith7 points1y ago
Ha! For real. Or when people ask where their food is while you are making a drink. The amount of times I want to say “do I look like I’m making food?? Do I look like a fucking oven to you?” 💀💀💀 ✨I love my job✨

Yeah, I'm quitting at the end of this year because it's making me very bitter and I can't afford to keep working full time for so little pay. : (

I’ve been back at the company for 30 days and counting. I just started cosmetology school and they said they have so many job openings for receptionists at salons to get your foot in the door once you get your license. I’m job hunting come Monday.

Oh hell yeah. I've started growing some serious anti social tendencies that I'm not happy with ever since early in the pandemic people took their masks off to yell at me and my baristas, got spit everywhere and on my face (which could be impressive) and just the over the top degenerecy. The intelligence trait is wasted on humans, it's time to let the dolphins take a spin at being on top.

What humanity? I’m already dead inside but damn
evilprozac792 points1y ago
I'm pretty sure I lost that years ago, at this job.
