Like or dislike new mark out policy? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by pippylulu
How are you feeling about the new mark out policy now that we’ve had time to adjust? When it first started I was a bit annoyed but now I’m thinking it’s better this way. I like to take home the protein boxes and egg bites and use them in my meal planning. Before I would just eat whatever sounded good if I was hungry on break. Now I’m actually see I’m saving money and planning out meals better.
I’m curious of others experience and thoughts.

I dislike it, I rarely get a drink or food item on my shift, I open and am not in the mood to eat/drink much before and then by the time I’m done I just want to leave. I typically used my mark out in the afternoon on my way to my second job.

not my favorite but i understand it. i’m just broke so the food helped me out on my rare day off

i like being able to eat more on my days i work but it’s really inconvenient to not get free stuff on my days off. originally i thought i would hate the new policy but i’m not nearly as bothered as i thought

I love it! I want to be nowhere near a Starbucks if they're not paying me to be there (lol). I love getting to take home stuff when I'm already there! I wasn't really using the other markout because there was no way I was loading the kids into the car just to get some shit every day.

I also think it should kind of be optional. Like if you preferred the old way, great, do that. If you like the new version, cool.

My sm explained it has to do with taxes and that's why they want us to do all markouts while on a shift, if that helps...

dislike because i have a second job and used to use starbucks food on my day off so i wouldn’t have to spend money on food before work

Except now you get 7 food items a week. Previous state you only got 1 a shift so if you only worked 3 shifts that week, you only qualified for 3 food mark outs.

How does this work if you’re covering for another store? Guessing that’s a no because it’s not your home store

I don’t mind the food mark out policy. The new drink policy though 😤 I’m a coffee addict so I miss getting a free drink on my days off. Also I like to travel and I miss getting free drinks at stores in other cities. The discount isn’t a whole lot, so I’ve resorted to using the bag mark out and making blonde espresso drinks at home but it’s never the same

I like it. I almost never go to Starbucks on my day off, so I don't really care about the free drink, and I don't really eat on my shift. Now I can markout 7 salami and cheese trays and have snacks for the week.

Love it! Loved it since day one. The drink thing kinda sucks but that isn't new, that was just switching back to the old policy. But I get my wife breakfast since I don't eat much of our food or just mark out extra stuff to surprise the nice customers. My DM says "your 7 food mark outs and your coffee mark out are yours. As long as you aren't selling them, you can give them to whoever you want."

But yeah, if I know my wife has a long day and needs breakfast for a few days I'll just mark out three kale egg bites and three orange juices and then use my last one to get a defense up or vital berry and make a bomb smoothie with it.

I mark out several protein boxes and a chicken quinoa salad to use for lunch at my second job. It’s handy. I do it at the end of my shift

I hate it so much. All I want is a black iced tea with apple brown sugar on my days off, but I'm not gonna pay for fucking starbucks. Also, my store is always out of shit, but the store between mine and my house usually has everything so I'm stuck with subpar options.
