I will never understand why customers completely change their order when I tell them I don't have blonde espresso (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by EliMinivan
I work at a grocery store Starbucks kiosk which has an older model espresso machine that does not have the capability to brew blonde espresso. Whenever a customer orders a custom drink with blonde espresso I have to tell them we don't have blonde, they completely change their order to another drink. Or sometimes even leave. I have a Breville machine at home and often brew both dark and lighter roasts in milk drinks, and honestly if it's a sweet or flavored drink I can rarely tell the difference.

According to Starbucks, their Blonde Espresso offers a "smoother coffee flavor," and doesn't need as much cream and sugar (thanks to the sweeter taste).

I'm not sure how, or why. But regular espresso upsets my stomach but I don't seem to have a problem with blonde. Which is weird considering blonde is supposed to be more acidic. Might be a similar situation.

Customers don't understand what they're ordering 70 percent of the time

I always order blonde and I can always tell when they accidentally give me regular, it's so awfully bitter. I know I'm being extra but people really can tell the difference
