If you like to experience suffering in its rawest form, it can be pretty fun

Do it!! Some people hate it, others like myself really like working for the siren! Give it a try :)

How much do you like getting screamed at by Karen’s who freaked out because they said “no foam” and there are two foam bubbles on her drink?

I quit when they changed the rules on min hours per week and computer scheduling. I could no longer do one shift a week just for my free coffee.

Do yourself a favor and do an internship somewhere instead in a field you’re interested in. Starbucks is a dead end

Can you explain min hours per week?
ofCourseZu-ar 4 points 1y ago
You qualify to receive basically all the benefits they offer at 20 hours a week. They check your hours every 6 months to make sure you're earning your 20/hour average.

Managers try to schedule everyone so that everyone is earning these benefits. Also, not 100% sure about this one, but I think I heard something about people being more profitable if they work that 20/Hour average

Former barista/supervisor here, had even been talking seriously about going for assistant store manager before the pandemic.

I loved the job for the majority of my 10 years there, but it WAS stressful. Having transferred to a few different stores in different cities, I can say for sure that it comes down to what the team/manager are like. A store with poor management and a toxic environment can quickly make the job hell, and when I transferred to a store in a new city and found myself in that setting I ended up hating going in to work every single day.
BUT, for most of the stores I worked in, my amazing teams make the chaotic days more bearable.

I don’t see myself ever going back to the company, but I’m glad I did it and I think it’s worth a try if you’re interested in it.

it’s definitely a hit or miss. for me it depends on the day whether i love my job or want to quit. the pay is nothing sensational, but the benefits are. i’d recommend giving it a try at least — and if it’s not your thing, you can always quit!

I love it!! Free drinks and cool coworkers? Sign me up!

in my opinion, it depends on who you are and how you are. as much as I hated my last store, I really did love working at starbucks, I actually miss it. but I know plenty of people who didn't even make it a week, for one reason or another.

try it out! after all starbucks is super understaffed and you’ll get hired easily. on the bright side you will learn better communicating skills and better ways to deal w ppl ! it’s real life , and this is practice. you’ll surely enjoy making drinks , and ya it gets challenging but put urself outta ur comfort zone(: also hey the free drinks /food items (discounts as well) are always a perk!!

I agree with everyone here, I think management will make or break the job for you, I’ve had a terrible manager for the 2 years I’ve worked for Starbucks and it’s been hell but luckily I have great coworkers, unfortunately leaving now because my manager is just getting worse and worse. I think if you talk with some of the workers maybe before you even apply that would be a great idea, make conversation with the baristas whenever you go and eventually you can work your way up to ask how they like working there, 99% of the time they will be honest with you, anytime someone has asked me I tell them I really like it but I unfortunately have a tough manager. People have still applied so it’s not like I’m shoeing them away, but I’m not against Starbucks, just against some of their choices of management. Definitely try it out if you want to, and I wouldn’t say I regret working for Starbucks, just got stuck with some unfortunate circumstances.

Hopefully you end in a chill store like mine! I love it there!

I try for a month and quit, it was a such experience to know how to brew coffee, get know all kind of coffee and drinks is such a blessing but the environment is so toxic and stressful I can’t handle it, definitely give it a try
samosa4sosa 1 points 1y ago
me who just put in my two weeks after working there for 2 months!😩
Substantial-Hair-170 2 points 1y ago
Don’t get me wrong I like working there but this particular sm get on my nerve every shift I’m w her, she literally pushed to the edge that when I decided to quit, told my dm about about 2 weeks ago, she told she going to change right away but my schedule didn’t change at all. Other than that everyone was young n cool except for her, she’s the oldest person there and always bragging about being there for 19 years, omg we don’t care

Yeah it’s worth trying out. The job can be pretty stressful but that’s retail. It really all depends on who you’re working with. A lot of these people take things too seriously and get very stressed out or don’t do their jobs and they can make the whole environment very toxic very fast. Some people can do that just by being obnoxious too. That’s any job though. You’re never guaranteed to not have to work with annoying people so if you think Starbucks looks cool it’s worth a shot. If it sucks then you can always try something else.
samosa4sosa 1 points 1y ago
same!! i realized it just wasn’t for me…it’s a lot going on plus a little work space is just too much

It has its ups and downs, I've been to multiple stores and it really comes down to the team you have. The pay isn't great but the benefits are nice. Good health insurance and they pay for a college degree at ASU. I try to remember to tell myself how much the degree is worth. But if you're not interested in school or the health insurance, definitely go somewhere else. Starbucks 100% takes a toll on your mental health and that's not so easily replaceable.

I jump between 2 stores and my regular store I love. Everyone I work with including manager are just awesome. We are super short staffed and still just have a blast. The other store, I love the people who work there as well but it’s just not as fun for me. Either way I actually really love my job.
