Dry Hands (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Flying_Nuggets
My hands have been crazy dry due to the sanitizer and god knows what at work. It’s reached the point where even at home, my palms are stiff and somewhat uncomfortable even after applying hand cream ( I use Caudalie)

Do you guys suggest any specific hand cream or anything else to help with it? Thanks <3

O’keefes working hands was a godsend for me. It’s like $5 or something at target, I would slather my hands with it before bed!!! My hands were so dry from washing and sanitizer that they were cracked and bleeding in more than one place and that was the only thing that worked for me!!!

O’keefes all the way!! It even survives a couple thorough hand washes. I started using it 3x a day and my poor zombie hands were fixed up within a couple weeks.

Working Hands by O’Keefe’s is my favorite. I like the night cream a little better than the regular formula but both have really helped with my dry and painful hands

Dream cream from lush .

Use whatever lotion works for you, slather a ton on and put gloves on when you sleep. I use aquaphor when my hands get bad, it’s the only one that doesn’t burn now lol.

Is your team checking the sanitizer solution concentration with the little strip?

If it’s made with hot water- the chemical gets too strong and it will cause more severe reactions than if it had been made with requisite cool water.

When all else fails cake Vaseline on your hands and put on gloves before you go to bed.

I really like charity pot from lush. They make it in little pucks and a cream. I’d recommend the puck because they’re way cheaper than the pot of cream.

The Body Shop hemp body butter in the little tubs saved my hands. I always had one in my apron pocket.

I got C.O. Bigelow Lavender Salve and I put it on my really dry spots every time I wash my hands or use sanitizer. If I have time, I also put on gloves before wiping counters with sanitizer just to reduce the amount of time my hands are exposed to it. When my hands were especially bad, I used gloves while working bar.

One winter I moved to Colorado for a work program and idk if it was the elevation or the fact it was always 8°F outside, but my hands were grossly dry and constantly cracking. The Palmer’s cocoa butter lotion and it saved my skin without feeling too greasy
kelvin_bot 1 points 1y ago
8°F is equivalent to -13°C, which is 259K.

i’ve noticed this too!! my skin is always so dry even up my arms 😫

I can’t even touch the sanitizer cuz my skin breaks out. I’ve dropped a whole container on my leg and I broke out and it spread. But my partners say the Bed bath and body lotions work amazing for it!

Always wear gloves when handling the sanitizer solution and wipes, thats what dries my hands the most 🥲 And wearing the latex gloves they send us when on bar can help. Protect your hands from the cold if you're working the drive thru too. 😊

The Dove Intensive Cream has been working well for me. Or I use homemade whipped butters as well. For me (especially in the winter time) the heavier the cream/butter, the better.

Aquaphor! slather it on and cover your hands with cotton gloves (socks work in a pinch) Go to sleep or binge watch a few episodes of your favorite show and your hands will thank you.

I've been using travel sized nivea and goldbond! At home I use a handmask serum I got at dollar tree and it cleared up my rough spots real well.
