Experiencing extreme ankle and foot pain help (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by thewoodschild
I'm new about a month in. I was off for a while during the whole pandemic so Im adjusting to getting back into working. Ive tried different shoes with different insoles but I'm still experiencing the worst pain in my ankles and feet. Im used to some foot pain with working but this is otherworldly pain and mainly in my ankles. On a 1-10 scale the ankle pain is a 6 or even 7. And Ive had 14 teeth yanked from my face at once so Im no crybaby. My store is all concrete floor no mats no nothing. If any of you have advice or footwear suggestions please please send them my way.

You should have mats in your store if you’re corporate owned. Perhaps there’s something wrong with you, I’d take a trip to the Dr. if you can afford it.

we used to have mats, but there were maggots under them so the store decided to get rid of them & my back does not approve😕

you should talk to your sm and dm because the mats are for baristas feet.

I messaged my doctor hopefully he gets back to me. Im like terrified I have a pain disorder or something its so bad. Idk if you can sprain ankles by standing on them but thats what it feels like. Its crazy

If you go to the doctor and get an actual diagnosis of pain, you can get floor mats as an accommodation.

In the meantime, soak your feet with hot water and Epsom salt. In extreme cases you can also use icy hot lidocaine patches (meant for your back) and wrap them around your feet! Hope this helps!

You might have tendinitis or shin splints or something, depending on the type of pain and where it’s located. Supportive shoes will help but stretching and strengthening your ankles and surrounding muscles is key. Look up some exercises online and do them every day (same for wrists too—you don’t want to get carpal tunnel, trust me)

skechers work shoes, very light and comfy. The lighter the better. When I first started I wore my doc Martins, big mistake... yeah they were cool, but too heavy, after I switched I never looked back.

I've actually experienced this especially with the ankle pain, to start find boots that are comfortable but support your ankle, and second i recommend paying attention to how youre standing, especially when you're idle, such as stop and window, I didn't realize I was shifting my weight and placing my feet weird and it caused me a lot of ankle pain and it took weeks for me to figure out why!
