Your “manager” is wrong. You can wear a red apron if you’d like, but you don’t have to. Our leader encourages us to wear red aprons but gives us the option. I’m the master barista at a Target location and I’m encouraged to wear the coffee master black apron, but I can wear a red one if I want. It’s really not that big a deal…. If you’re behind the starbucks counter, you should be wearing a green or red apron, that’s the policy.

Depends on how many the store received. This year my store didn’t get enough for everyone.

There was a time when they only sent a few red aprons. During those days, people who worked there longest wore them, usually a shift or a few other senior partners wore them. Then, we started getting more- enough for everybody- which was great- now just about everybody wears them. (I usually wear a black apron since I’m a coffee master. Everybody else usually wears green.) I considered wearing a green one just to be different- but decided just to wear my red one- tis the season. As far as I’m aware- the choice is yours on the holiday apron.

I’ve worked at a licensed store for three years and this is the first year we had enough red aprons for everyone. They only ship out a few each year.

I think it’s store to store basis, mine is optional to wear a red one, however because of the small amount we received you cannot keep the red one and must return it everyday after your shift

I think the only issue here is if your store didn't get enough aprons for everyone like others are saying. We didn't get enough for everyone at my store so not everyone has one. Other than that, the other stuff your manager was saying is BS lol

That’s literally not a thing. At all. They are just the holiday aprons. That’s all they are. Black aprons are for coffee masters.

EDIT: I have two red aprons from when I worked at a corporate store. I now work franchised and I wear my red ones all the time.

My store didn’t even get any. Even the other store that I’ve been covering some days didn’t get any this year. My manager said if we didn’t get enough for everyone they’d go to whoever didn’t get one previously. Some older partners are wearing theirs from previous years.

I’m a store manager, and the red aprons can be worn by all partners. They are not mandatory. They definitely did have a shortage this year, but I believe that more are on the way. I ordered more for my partners this week. Black aprons are for coffee masters, but unfortunately you can not order those anymore. If you see someone with a black apron, they are an OG.

Coffee masters get that black apron. The red aprons are for the holidays. Your manager obviously doesn’t know what they’re talking about
