You hang in there. I’m a customer, not an employee. There’s no excuse for shitty, rude behavior. I went to pick up a pizza from Papa Murphy’s last night and was noticing how generally rude a lot of the customers are.
Just try not to take it personally, because it typically has nothing at all to do with you. There are more of us who appreciate you and who won’t treat you bad.

You are a human being deserving of respect. You are allowed to stand up for yourself. (Not yell or say nasty things, but certainly tell people to treat you the way any person deserves.)
Do not let people chew you up and spit you out. Do not let them make you feel less than.
There is too much of the population that feels like because the pandemic took from them, they can turn around and take it out on someone behind a counter because we have to smile and take it. *Not true.*

I’ve definitely done this before. I’ll tell you what I told myself: guard your heart. No costumer and in many stores no coworker cares for you beyond what you can provide. Keep yourself safe and let out the emotions when you can. I highly suggest sobbing over a pint of ice cream.

not a sbux barista but i work at another v popular coffee chain so our customer service rules r different. honestly, unpopular opinion but the rule ‘treat others how u wish to be treated’ applies here. customer is explicitly rude and trying to belittle and degrade you? stay classy but you are entitled to defend your dignity. i dont care, if a customer is rude to me ima match their energy but im gonna keep it classy and collected so they feel fucking dumb. remember we are not paid enough to tolerate hate, disrespect and degradation, and remember the company does not give a flying fuck about you and you owe them nothing. protect yourself, protect your dignity, if a customer is so rude you have to tell them to fuck off then so be it 🤷🏻♀️ but again ive seen just how much sbux rewards and protects its customers for being shitty so idk how much of an optiom this is for u, but if u have any good shift managers then use it to ur advantage ❤️
