My theory as a grocery store barista is that since there’s a whole store full of people of a wide demographic, a lot more of your customers are impulse buyers. In comparison to a corporate store, where a lot more people are regulars or at least probably go to Starbucks often. I think licensed customers are more likely to be confused and grumpy as a result.

As a fellow Tarbucks employee who’s worked at Kroger starbucks and corporate, I ask the same question. I’ve never met more rude people than at Target. My theory: upper-class, entitled, more wealthy demographic usually shops at Target.

My theory:
Spending up to $5 on a drink makes them feel entitled and special or ripped off and irritated, add the placebo effect from the anticipated sugar/caffeine rush and you have an A-Hole coming through.
again just a theory…
