Ear infection from headset? (self.starbucksbaristas)

I have not posted here yet so hi!
I’ve been working at Starbucks for almost a year now (the 20th of November is my last day) and as you know we wear headsets every shift and I always wear my headset on my right ear. Anyways, I have been having pain coming from that ear and I’m pretty sure I have an ear infection. I’m not sure if it’s from sharing headsets at work but has anyone else experienced something like this? We always sanitize our headsets before giving them to another partner. could it be moisture from the sani wipes?

It would more likely from from earbuds if you use those. I had a terrible ear infection a couple years ago that came from using ear buds.

definitely got my first ear infection working at sbux from the headsets, i had to call out the pain was unbearable. i wipe mine before using even though everyone is supposed to have already santized it. take an extra step at home to clean your ear with alcohol on a qtip to prevent it.

I had a severe cold/flu. My ears were okay while I was out. Not fully great but definitely not infected. I got an infection after being back a few days. I think it was more so not having airflow than sharing the headsets since we were super good about cleaning them and it happened after being sick but it definitely happened. (Don’t worry; I thoroughly cleaned every headset since I’d been sick and no one got sick from me.)
