Is This Weird? (Training) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
Sooo my Shifts just realized last week that I haven’t finished any of the Training Modules on MyLearning. Like, 20% Barista basics, and the Christmas training were the only things I’ve done.

It’s a small store, understaffed, huge customer base. They need me in the mornings, but I didn’t even know how to sequence properly till a few days ago. I’ve been with the company since September.

Does it normally take this long to complete training?

not normally, but in the past year or so i’ve noticed a LOT of new hires experiencing this. at one of my old stores, there was a guy who had been around for almost a year and only done about half his modules. at the time of his hire, the store was so understaffed they had to just do their best to get him on the floor as quick as possible.

it’s very unfair to you all, in my opinion, that you aren’t really receiving the best quality of training.

SM came in and was apologetic when a few baristas brought it to her. She’s new and the store is overwhelmed…. but I agree that it just isn’t fair to new peeps!!

Not too sure but my store made me complete all the trainings before putting me on the floor. The training modules does contain important info but if you have been there since September then you probably already know almost everything.

Same thing happened to me. I started back in August and got very little training on a lot of things (like only a hour of CS training) plus didn’t get to finish my modules. I had to come in on my day off to finish all my modules so I could do my Christmas training. My store is extremely understaffed and one of the busiest locations in my city so they just wanted to get new partners on the floor as soon as possible.

It seems unfair to me but can’t do much about it.

not much at all, you’re right! Good to know it’s a Starbucks thing and not my store

I have done only a part of my training but had been tossed on the register and ovens before the first week was over. I haven’t even totaled learned the holiday stuff yet and I’ve been here since the beginning of fall. they keep telling me I have to sequence but haven’t really explained what it is yet. Understaffed and extremely busy store make training difficul.

It’s so wild!! This pandemic has completely killed the Starbucks Experience

A very similar thing happened to me, and earlier this week they had me watch those modules, which were all like 110 days overdue. My training has been very spotty, inconsistent and incomplete, leaving me terribly frustrated. Fortunately many of my co-workers are great.

having coworkers to help you out is so great!kind of a “takes a village” mentality to it
