I’m not a green bean, been a partner for 6 years. This is my second store I’ve worked at. I want to call prsc on them but honestly I dunno if it’s the right thing to do. They’re salary and gets paid for 40 hours a week, but is only in the store for 20. Claims they works from home all the other days or other stores but in all honesty they’ve gone with their significant other to get wine or beer or a tattoo or something else recreational. And then they will be gone for a few days and all of a sudden they’re back and yelling about everything. They make no effort to realize that suicidal ideation and depression are an actual thing. They’re the top tier of belittling everyone. And they say it’s in a joking matter but they upset every partner. Should I call or not? Are we being over sensitive? I called them out on a mistake they’ve been making and they literally played victim. I just am stuck guys. I love my job, I hate the way I’m being treated. I hate the way my partners are getting treated too.

call. you’re all being abused in the workplace. get a detailed list of incidents if at all possible, too. because if they open an investigation, they’ll need reports filed, and they’ll need all the information about the situation that they can get.
and rest assured that starbucks is EXTREMELY quiet about their investigations. i’ve known partners AND managers who have had investigations opened on them, and they only found out AFTER it had been closed — or as they were being fired. seriously: the SM will only find out when it’s too late, so don’t be afraid.

Ethics and Compliance. Call them because SMs are not allowed to work outside of the store "from home". We can occasionally do a call from home or something but nothing near this scale. Also there is no way it is ever okay for your manager to yell at you about anything.
They are stealing time and verbally harassing you. They need to be separated.

Before you call! You should gather as much evidence as you can possibly gather and maybe take your time doing that. Because the more you have the more the company has to do something about it.
You may have to do this for over a year or more.
Then you call.

also, they shouldn’t namedrop you or any other partners. everything can be and SHOULD be, afaik, 100% anonymous.

I’ve called ethics before and they wouldn’t let me continue without giving your name, then they just sent the complaint to the dm.

This is not the norm. Also that is retaliation and should be reported again because that's very much against policy.

I did and I left. Corporate investigated said they’d change it, but from what I hear now the sm is even worse.

damn, the people i know that went above their SM’s heads were allowed to remain anonymous, at least to anyone outside of the investigation. obviously the people doing it knew who they were, but no one else in the store (manager included) had any idea about anything until the baristas in question started talking about it, post-investigation.

When I contacted ethics, the dm sucked so he told my store manager. And then my store manager gave me a write up and told me the complaint was already dealt with.

This is literally my fear. Them and my DM are so close. Sometimes after they have their “one on ones” about growing and stuff, I swear to god I can spell the shit leaking off of them because their so far up the DM’s ass. Everyone in the store is pretty positive they’ve slept together.
