Lady upset because 8oz of fluid doesn't fill a 16 Oz cup (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by MickTheStickJohnson
This is my first post but this happened on my shift today and I HAD to share. So this woman orders starbucks from our location through Uber eats, she gets a few food items, three frapps and a short decaf caramel macchiato with whip in a grande cup. We're slammed, short staffed and all of us are stressed but I'm on hot bar so I get the order made and sent to be packaged up. The order gets picked up by the driver and delivered without a hitch until approximately 30 minutes later my stressed shift lead picks up a phone call and bursts into tears. The lady called us, absolutely furious and screaming at my shift lead because she's upset that her drink isn't full. The SHORT drink she ordered, in a GRANDE cup wasn't full. She said we should have added extra milk to keep it from being half empty.I wish I could have told that lady she's a moron for thinking we would literally double the size of her drink at no cost. People are stupid.

stupid, but so many people expect us to fill the cup all the way up when they ask for a larger sized cup than the drink they’re getting. like…. no.

in relation: this woman used to come through, get a TALL iced coffee in a VENTI cup, light ice, then wanted extra milk. all the way to the top. for no extra charge. and for reference, that’s about a grande’s worth of *extra milk* that she wanted *free of charge.*

she called our SM *and* our DM and both of them told her she’d have to pay for that much excess milk. ☠️

I just don't understand why they feel like they're entitled to free shit 😭

Because Starbucks corporate has made these customers believe they’re always right and can also for anything and baristas should bend over backward and just do as their told

nailed it.

Honestly another issue is that many baristas just do it because they dont want to deal with arguing with customers during peak. Now it is called a “life hack” on the internet so they get pissed if it doesn’t work or when a barista actually follows standard.

We had/have a regular who would lose her mind over not being able to receive a full cup for a grande flat white in a venti with extra foam. She expected foam to the top no matter how many times we explained we steam a grande amount of milk for a grande and thus will have room in a larger cup. Not sure if she still comes around since I never met her or if she just learned how to order correctly

We have a woman who orders a grande English breakfast tea (not latte) in a venti cup with extra water. It makes me want to fucking scream but I’m never the one taking orders when she comes through.

We have another woman who comes and sits in our cafe and orders a venti EBT, one tea bag in and one tea bag on the side, and a venti cup of hot water. And then she cups up three times for refills. We even tried to check the refill policy so we could tell her to fuck off but there wasn’t wording that could help us out.

I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN IRKED BY THIS. people used to do it ALL THE TIME at my old store. 🥲

I get trying to save a little money from a giant corporation especially when we are just charging for water at that point, but I just have literally no respect for somebody who can’t put a tea bag in hot water at home. I am way more understanding about coffee refills lol

So people understand volume enough to ask for light ice but not enough to understand getting a quad espresso in a venti cup will look full if we put enough ice?? Make it make sense.

I had a similar experience yesterday. One of our regulars comes in and orders their two regular drinks (iced espressos with a shit ton of extras including VSC Foam, basically filling the cup). They then order a Quad espresso in a hot venti cup, with 4 pumps of white mocha. THATS IT. And they expected it to be full!! Where in the world did they think that would fill the cup???? They threw a fit about how it wasn’t full and how they ACTUALLY wanted milk and VSC Foam on this one as well. I am so over entitled customers that we have to bend over backwards for bc they don’t understand basic concepts.

there’s this one semi regular at my store who orders 4 shots of espresso in a venti cup over ice, shaken, with mocha and cream, aka an iced shaken espresso. she will *not* take the drink if the sticker says “iced shaken espresso” for whatever reason, and if it’s rung up as such she gets angry at the window about it. one time i rung it up as an iced shaken espresso cause yknow that’s *what it fucking is* and she got irate with me. i was this 😀😄😀 in human form

I think you should have made it in a short cup, then put the short cup inside the grande cup lid it too. That would have been amazing.

If it was Uber eats she could literally just add more milk at her house 🙄
