hey guys! so i’ve been working at sbux for about 3 1/2 months now and i’ve developed a nice rapport with my fellow partners and managers. my manager has brought up a couple of times about my future in the company and she mentioned becoming a shift. i know i’m like far away from that but i’m currently in school and i don’t like to commit to something with so much responsibility without being able to give my all. so if there are any ssv’s in college currently with any advice or anything i would really appreciate it. thanks!

If youre going to attend college dont become a shift. People can do both but in my opion theres just too much pressure to be at the store more than focus on ur study

I’m an SSV in college currently. I’m taking 13 credits and working 35 hours a week and have been doing roughly the same for four semesters. It’s completely doable but you have to be a workaholic who doesn’t care about having a social life. If you struggle with school or are going to be taking time intensive classes or heavy course loads I wouldn’t do it. You’re not going to have time to attend office hours. You’re not going to have time for study groups. You’re going to lose sleep finishing assignments and studying. Your schedule will make it nearly impossible to trade shifts if you are attending school in person. I did not know what I was getting into when I was promoted and while I don’t regret it I just want you to know what you’re getting into if this is what you decide to do.
